THE 2017 SANTA FE HOME SHOW

(Santa Fe, NM) – The Santa Fe Area Homebuilders Association had the annual Santa Fe Home Show this weekend at the Santa Fe Convention Center. According to Kim Shanahan, Executive Director of SFAHBA, the show is the largest home show in Northern New Mexico.

Dozens of vendors were on hand to help people considering home improvements and new green technologies. Glen Schiffbaur, Executive Director of the Santa Fe Green Chamber of Commerce, was interviewed by local radio station, KSWV Que Suave Radio, and discussed the importance of green building methodologies, such as adobe and solar, when remodeling or building a home. The event also showcased the award-winning efforts of Santa Fe’s best remodelers.

A big attraction has always been the Lego contest sponsored by Del Norte Credit Union and Meow Wolf. One of the winners this year was young Ivan Florian, 8 years old,  who attended with his mother Claudia Hernandez. According to Mrs. Hernandez, Ivan has always been good at putting things together, in particular “anything that moves”. Del Norte Credit Union’s Baxter Bear gave “high 5s” and took photos with the kids.

Santa Fe County Assessor Gus Martinez and staff we present during the two day event to inform the public about home owner exemptions on property valuations. The County Assessor’s office had a “mobile office” set up to help with questions about property assessments.

Karen Gross and Christine Chavez, from the City of Santa Fe Water Division, provided information on how to save water in particular with the new Eye On Water mobile app that allows residents to monitor water consumption.
