The Santa Fe Convention Center was the scene this week for the selection of the new Don Diego de Vargas and Reina de la Fiesta. After months of preparation, and a contest earlier in the week, David Jaramillo and Hope Andrea Quintana were chosen as the 2017 Don Diego de Vargas, and Reina de la Fiesta de Santa Fe.

David Jaramillo works for the City of Santa Fe in fleet management and Hope Andrea Quintana is currently a Research and Development Engineer for Plutonium Science programs at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Fiesta de Santa Fe is an annual tradition to commemorate Don Diego De Vargas’ peaceful reoccupation of the City of Holy Faith in 1692.

The Santa Fe Fiesta Council is a volunteer organization created by the Official Fiesta Proclamation on September 16, 1712.

The upcoming spring and summer months will be filled with fiesta events, so make sure to visit the Santa Fe Fiesta website. Que Viva la Fiesta!
