KIT CARSON ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE LAUNCHES SEVEN ONE MEGAWATT SOLAR ARRAYS TOWARDS 100% RENEWABLE ENERGY     DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS

Taos, NM, April 25, 2017 – KCEC Solar – Powering a Brighter Future ~ Now!

On May 6, 2017 Kit Carson Electric Cooperative, Inc. (KCEC) will be conducting a “virtual ribbon cutting” for the first 7 PV solar arrays to be built this year as part of the plan to provide 100% renewable energy in the summer months throughout the cooperative’s Service Area. Kit Carson Electric Cooperative, Inc. (KCEC) and Guzman Renewable Energy Partners (GREP) have entered into an agreement to develop 35 solar arrays over the next few years.  Both businesses have heard the desires of the community and are beginning the implementation of those plans on Saturday, May 6th.

By the project’s completion locally produced, clean solar energy will be available to every member during daylight hours. KCEC’s partnership with Guzman Renewable Energy Partners (GREP) will generate low-cost solar energy at a price competitive with the fossil fuels, offer a major transformation to local control of renewable energy generation and distribution, support recruiting and empowering light industry and environmentally conscious businesses to the service area, increase job availability, preserve local water, and stabilize energy prices. Solar power development places KCEC in a leadership position to influence local, regional and national renewable energy development, policy, legal issues, and environmental care, as well as, potentially sell excess power elsewhere on the regional grid.

Please join KCEC, its community members and partners on May 6th to celebrate the power of the sun; a brighter future for all. There will be guests from Costilla to Pilar, Angel Fire to Tres Piedras, Red River to Eagle Nest, Colorado to Florida and Albuquerque to Washington, D.C. Guest speakers will address the audience starting at 11:30 a.m. then there will be educational activities for children and adults alike. Food and good conversation will last until 2:00 p.m.
