POPEJOY PRESENTS AND  HAVERLAND CARTER BROADWAY IN NEW MEXICO  ANNOUNCE THE 2017-2018 SEASON 

Albuquerque, NM- Popejoy Hall is thrilled to announce the 2017-2018 Popejoy Presents Season in Albuquerque. The 2017-2018 Haverland Carter Broadway in New Mexico Series features a phenomenal line up of Broadway hits including Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg’s Tony Award®-winning musical, Les Misérables; Tony Award for best musical revival, The King and I, a beloved take on the classic tale, Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella; Broadway favorite A Chorus Line; and hilarious newcomer, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder.

Broadway in New Mexico Extras include smash hits The Book of Mormon, and Wicked, returning by popular demand.

“We’re excited to have some of the most splendid shows coming to Popejoy for our 52nd season,” says Tom Tkach, Director of Popejoy Hall. “The Broadway in New Mexico series shows have won 52 Tony Awards between them. The Ovation Series shows in the coming season are among the most creative, and exciting shows out on tour. We’re delighted to present all 26 shows this coming season.”

In addition to the Haverland Carter Broadway in New Mexico Series, Popejoy will also feature 17 other events that deliver the best of comedy, music, dance, theater and much more. The season includes David Sedaris, NPR humorist and bestselling author returning to read his own work of biting satire and wit; renowned dance troupe Pilobolus, who will perform a portion of their inventive repertoire; Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery, a hilarious interpretation of Arthur Conon-Doyle’s The Hound of the Baskervilles; Gobsmacked! an a cappella performance featuring world champion beatboxer Ball-Zee; Mummenschanz, the revolutionary mime group from Switzerland; A Charlie Brown Christmas, the classic story retold with live actors and rendition of the Vince Guaraldi score; audience favorite, Mannheim Steamroller Christmas; and percussion explosion, STOMP.

The 2017-2018 Popejoy Presents Season begins October 27, 2017 with iLuminate, an electrified contemporary dance performance, and closes in October 2018 with 16 performances of the Broadway sensation Wicked.

Subscription sales began May 1, 2017 to renewing season ticket holders and new season ticket orders will be accepted beginning June 15, 2017. Broadway subscription packages start at $179.75.
