Santa Fe Public Schools Announces New Athletics/Activities Director Appointment

Santa Fe, NM –Today, July 17, 2017 Santa Fe Public Schools(SFPS) announces Mark Mutz as the new Athletics/Activities Director. Dr. Veronica C. Garcia, superintendent of schools, explained, “This year we modified the position to include all student activities, not just athletics. In doing this, we are placing a greater emphasis on creating opportunities for all students to be engaged in their school community. Our Athletics/Activities Director will work with school administrators to create and fund engagement activities for our students in order to meet their diverse interests and talents. We are fortunate to have a person of Mr. Mutz’s caliber who is committed to ensuring all students have the opportunity to be engaged in our schools.”

Mr. Mutz graduated from Santa Fe Public Schools, and served as an assistant principal at Santa Fe High School during the 2016-2017 school year. He started his teaching career in Yuma, Arizona, as a special education life skills teacher, and then worked at DeVargas Middle School until he transferred to Santa Fe High in 2014 to be the special education coordinator. He has also served as the Deputy Director for the Special Education Department at the New Mexico Public Education Department.
