EL Rancho de las Golondrinas Presents Spanish Colonial Days for Grades Pre K-6th May and October of 2017

Designed for students K-6th Spanish Colonial Days give students the unique opportunity to engage in activities of a typical young person during Spanish Colonial times. For three days each in the spring and fall the ranch is alive with costumed volunteers ready to share and interpret the history of Las Golondrinas and New Mexico for school children. To better understand our history, students can take part in the same daily chores as the early settlers. Candle making, corn grinding, rope-making, clothes washing, wool carding and spinning are among the several hands-on activities very popular with our young visitors.

They will also see the blacksmith hammering away in his shop, wheat being ground in our two gristmills and fresh bread coming out of the horno. The resident burros, sheep and goats to add to the fun and authentic atmosphere.
