Aspen Community School New Track and Field Ribbon Cutting

Santa Fe, NM –The public is invited to a ribbon cutting ceremony for the  Aspen Community Magnet School’s new track and field on Monday, August 21, 2017 at 9:30AM. The new track and synthetic turf athletic field will serve the school as well as the combined Aspen Community Magnet School, Eldorado Community School, and Gonzales Community School 6-8  football team, the Tritons.

The total cost of the project was $1,426,660. The turf will save the District approximately 3 million gallons of water annually with an annual operational water savings of $45,000. Robert Cohen Company, LLC was the general contractor, and Wilson & Company Engineers and Architects was the designer.

Dr. Garcia stated, “I thank our community for supporting the 2013 General Obligation Bond, which funded this project. As responsible stewards of taxpayer funds, we installed a synthetic turf field, which is better for the environment and over time will save the district in water and maintenance costs. This affords us the opportunity to direct more operational funds to the classroom where it can be directly utilized for teaching and learning.”

Aspen Community Magnet School is located at 450 La Madera Street in Santa Fe. We ask that all attendees please check in at the front office at Aspen Community School prior to the ceremony.
