Secretary Geisel Announces $167,500 in LEADS Grants to New Mexico Communities

Santa Fe, NM – Today, Economic Development Secretary Matt Geisel announced $167,500 in Local Economic Assistance & Development Support Program (LEADS) grants to 18 communities across the state. The grants will fund a variety of economic development projects throughout New Mexico and support the continued growth of our state and local economy.

“Community development is a crucial aspect of economic growth,” said Economic Development Secretary Matt Geisel. “These LEADS grants will promote job creation, corporate recruitment and business development. With the awarded funds, communities are able to invest in themselves and foster change in their own backyards.”

Projects types are broken into the categories of attraction, business retention & expansion, workforce, tech & entrepreneur and real estate. Grant funding per project ranges from $5,000-$12,500.

Otero County Economic Development Corporation

Greater Gallup Economic Development Corporation

Carlsbad Department of Development

Clovis Industrial Development Corporation

Four Corners Economic Development Corporation

Grow Raton

Sandoval County

City of Tucumcari

Lovington Economic Development Corporation

City of Los Lunas

Cibola County Economic Development Corporation

Guadalupe County

City of Las Vegas

San Miguel County

Santa Fe County

Santa Clara

Southern Luna County

The LEADS Program was created in 2016 to help communities develop successful and sustainable economic outcomes. The New Mexico Economic Development Department’s Community, Business and Rural Development Team works with community groups to identify projects and prepare the application.
