Frida’s Intimate Friends, Iconic Artists

During her 1951 trip to Mexico, Georgia O’Keeffe visited Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera as well as Miguel and Rosa Covarrubias. Sharing documents, artwork, and photographs Kastner will tell a story of the trans-border friendships between these modern artists.

Curator of the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum

Carolyn Kastner is curator at the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, where she organized the exhibition Miguel Covarrubias: Drawing a Cosmopolitan Line and edited a catalogue by the same title, in 2014. She earned her Ph.D. in American Art History at Stanford University. Her research, publications, and curatorial projects are focused on the diversity of American modernism.
