The New Mexico Film Office Announces “The Kid” to Film in New Mexico

Santa Fe, N.M. – New Mexico Film Office Director Nick Maniatis announced today that the theatrical feature “The Kid” produced by Suretone will begin principal photography at the end of September through the end of October, in Santa Fe.
“New Mexico’s one-of-a-kind landscapes and superior film infrastructure make New Mexico an unrivaled location to film,” said New Mexico Film Office Director Nick Maniatis. “We’re proud to welcome another production that brings our state’s unique history to life.”
The production will employ approximately 80 New Mexico crew members, 20 New Mexico principal actors and 500 New Mexico background talent.
The theatrical feature is directed by Vincent D’Onofrio (“Dare Devil,” Jurassic World,” “The Magnificent Seven,” “Law and Order/Criminal Intent,” “Men in Black,” “Full Metal Jacket”) and produced by Jordan Schur (“Warrior,” “Pawn Shop Chronicles,” “Stone,” “Hendry’s Crime”), Nick Thurlow (“Last Knights,” “Pawn Shop Chronicles,” “Shotgun Stories,” “The Ledge”) and Sam Maydew (“Be Here Now,” “The Education of Charlie Banks,” “SLC Punk”).
“It’s great to be filming ‘The Kid’ in New Mexico.  Here in the land of enchantment, with the echo of Billy the Kid’s past exchanges with Pat Garrett what better place to be filming our story,” said Producer Nick Thurlow.  “With Vince D’Onofrio directing, Ethan Hawke as Pat Garrett, Dane DeHaan as ‘Billy The Kid’ and introducing Jake Schur, we are beyond excited to bring this story to life.”
Starring Vincent D’Onofrio (“Dare Devil,” Jurassic World,” “The Magnificent Seven,” “Law and Order/Criminal Intent,” “Men in Black,” “Full Metal Jacket”), Ethan Hawke (“Boyhood,” “The Magnificent Seven,” “Sinster,” “Before Trilogy,” “Training Day”), Dane DeHaan (“Valerian,” “The Amazing Spiderman,” “Chronicle,” “Lawless”) and Jake Schur. Local New Mexico supporting cast include Clint Obenchain (“Midnight, Texas,” “The Night Shift”), Chris Bylsma (“From Dusk Till Dawn,” “The Night Shift,” “Furthest Witness”), Tait Fletcher (“Jurassic World,” “Thor,” “The Lone Ranger,” Midnight, Texas”), and Keith Jardine (“Logan,” “John Wick,” “Godless,” “Preacher”).
“The Kid” is the story of a young boy, Rio, who tragically loses his parents in a horrific episode.  He then must choose between Billy The Kid and Sherriff Pat Garrett in an effort to realize which of them will be noble enough to help rescue his sister Sara, who has been kidnapped by their evil uncle Grant.
