There was good and bad news for Monte del Sol head volleyball coach Chela Butler when the 2-3A All-District team was announced.
Three Dragons were named, one to the First Team, one to the Second Team, and one on the honorable mention list. That’s the good news, the bad news is that they are all seniors.
Named to the First Team with Santa Fe Prep seniors Samantha Wilson and Teslin Ishee, was Lizabeth Nava of Monte del Sol, a setter. Wilson is an outside hitter and Ishee a libero. Three Dulce players, junior Jaelyn Revel, sophomore Caitlin Duncan and freshman Jasmine Salazar rounded out the top seven. Dulce was district champion.
On the Second Team was the Dragons middle hitter Talia Flaherty, junior outside hitter Daisy Cunningham, and Dulce sophomore Tayeshaun Largro and Espanola Valley McCurdy senior Annalisa Martinez.
Along with Monte del Sol setter Lia Fukuda and Prep freshman middle hitter Raelyn Gonzales, the honorable mention four also included Dulce freshman Alancia Herrera and McCurdy sophomore Devyn Cordova.
Dulce won district at 5-1, second was the Griffins at 4-2, and next came the Dragons at 3-3, and McCurdy wound up at 1-5. Dulce also won the district tournament defeating Prep in the final, with MDS third and McCurdy fourth.
