The St. Michael’s boy’s soccer team had an up-and-down season that included a mixture of injuries, and it also had some close matches that could have gone either way.

But Horsemen junior goalkeeper Isaiah Vigil was consistently good, which is why he was named to the First Team of District 2/1A-4A. Joining him was senior defender Wyatt Hoyle in a district won by Robertson.

Also gaining this honor was freshman midfielder Aaron Cerda of Monte del Sol, while runner-up Santa Fe Prep placed senior forward Trevor Wilson, senior midfielder Harrison Tranor, and senior defender Nicky Perillo, selected district defensive Player of the Year.

Second team had the Griffins with senior goalie Victor Rios, senior midfielders Henry Barliant and Uliaes Gutierrez, and senior forwards Elliott Thornburg and Harrison Miller. From the Horsemen was sophomore defender Berkeley Reynolds, and junior forward Justice Johnson, along with senior midfielder Uliaes Gutierrez of Monte del Sol.

For the girls in the district won by Santa Fe Prep, making the First Team for the Griffins were junior midfielders Lynn Robey and sophomore Hayden Colfax, junior defender Abby Stranahan and senior defender Ariane Talou, and freshman forward Anna Swanson, also named the district Player of the Year.

Second place St. Michael’s gained the other three first teamers with senior defender Kylee Marcus, senior midfielder Maya Chavez, district defensive Player of the Year, and senior forward Tiana Baca, although leading scorer, sophomore Daisy Smith, might have deserved a spot here.

Named to the second team was forward Smith, Lady Horsemen freshman defender Francis Schneider, and freshman forward Olivia Farrar. From Monte del Sol there was goalkeeper Alejandra Castllo and defender Natalia Vallies, and freshman defender Luz Turner, junior midfielder Blake Trevisani, and junior forward Casey Chandler, all from Prep.
