Eagle Nest Lake State Park Closed to Boating

By New Mexico State Parks News

Eagle Nest, NM – Eagle Nest Lake is closed to boating and ice-fishing due to recent weather conditions that have produced unsafe lake conditions. The lake is currently closed to all watercraft including canoes, kayaks, and inflatables as well as all types of motor boats. A layer of ice has formed over portions of the lake, but much of the lake still has open water. These conditions prohibit boating or ice fishing activities. It is anticipated that ice conditions should improve soon and until then, fishing is still allowed from the bank in open water.

Boat ramp access is closed, but camping is available at the park. Please call the park office at (575) 377-1594 for current fishing and lake conditions or visit the park’s webpage at http://www.emnrd.state.nm.us/SPD/eaglenestlakestatepark.html.

For more information about fishing in northeastern New Mexico, please contact the Department of Game and Fish office in Raton at (505) 445-2311 or visit their website, www.wildlife.state.nm.us.
