By NM Film Office
Santa Fe, N.M. – Today, the New Mexico Film Office (NMFO) announced a call for entries for the 2018 NM Filmmakers Showcase. The yearly juried competition is open to all New Mexico filmmakers and there is no fee to submit your film. The winners of the showcase will be announced at an Awards Ceremony on May 19th, 2018 at the National Hispanic Cultural Arts Center. The winning films will be screened at the 2018 NM Film & Media Industry Conference in the fall.
The NMFO is accepting entries now through March 15th at 5:00 pm. This year the New Mexico Film Office will be partnering with the company Submittable.com to accept entries online. For guidelines and to submit your entry and application visit: https://nmfilmoffice.submittable.com/submit.
“A vibrant film industry and a tax incentive accessible to New Mexicans gives the state filmmakers a chance to tell their own stories,” said New Mexico Film Office Director Nick Maniatis. “The NMFO Showcase is a chance for us all to see what they have created and for us to acknowledge the outstanding work.”
A panel of local film professionals will judge the films in various categories. For the first time, the NM Filmmakers Showcase will have a Best in Show Prize that will include a $250 cash prize from the New Mexico Film Foundation. In another first, filmmakers who submit to the showcase will be included in the Submittable.com Gallery which will be available for the public to view and vote for the Audience Award. For the second year, we will also have a Wild Card winner. The film with the highest score in any category (after the finalists) will be awarded the Wild Card.
There are eight (8) categories for submission: Comedy, Drama, Documentary, Horror, Fantasy, Music Video, Sci-Fi, and Student. Trophies will be awarded for Best in Category as well as Best in Show, Audience Award and Wild Card.
Join us at our Awards Ceremony on Saturday, May 19th at 5:00 PM in the Bank of America Theater – located at the National Hispanic Cultural Center, 1701 4th St SW, Albuquerque, NM 87102.
