Areas Closed to Duck Hunting on San Juan River at Navajo Lake State Park

By N.M. State Parks

Farmington, NM – Several areas will be closed to duck hunting at Navajo Lake State Park due to crews working in the San Juan River. The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish began a river enhancement project in December 2017 from Simon Point Day-Use Area downriver to the Crusher Hole Day-Use Area. As such, it is unsafe for duck hunters and anglers to be active in these areas.
The area upstream from ET Rock will remain open to duck hunting but hunters are urged to use caution as these areas may be more congested due to the river closures.
For the safety of park visitors, work crews, anglers, and hunters, these closures will remain in effect throughout the remainder of the duck hunting season.
