We’re all about cooking up New Mexico’s best flavors, but when it comes to wine education, the Santa Fe School of Cooking is smart enough to turn it over to the pros! And our Saturday, March 31st, 3pm class, Wine: Tasting the Master’s Way does exactly that! We invite you to join us as we welcome Tim Gaiser, M.S., to teach our guests the deductive tasting method used by Master Sommeliers around the globe.
Tim Gaiser is an internationally renowned wine expert and lecturer and is one of only 246 individuals worldwide to attain the elite title of Master Sommelier. A regular presenter at the famed Santa Fe Wine and Chile Fiesta, Tim is the former Director of Education and Education Chair for the Court of Master Sommeliers, Americas. He is also an adjunct professor for the Rudd Center for Professional Wine Studies at the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone in Napa Valley.
Over his 25-year career, Tim has educated thousands of students in wines and spirits classes at every level of expertise and has developed numerous wine education programs for restaurants, wineries and wine distributors. Now based in Albuquerque, Tim says, “I am excited to be back in my home state and look forward to working with the state’s restaurants, food and wine industries, aspiring sommeliers, and discovering the hidden gems of New Mexican wines.”
Tim will lead this unique class through a flight of six different wines as he demonstrates the best way to observe, smell, and taste wine. Along the way, he will also share new strategies from his own tasting project on improving a wine-lover’s smell and taste memory. Regardless of your level of tasting expertise—be it novice or professional—you’ll leave the class a better taster with a deeper understanding of what’s in your glass.
