Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa Announces Inaugural Tamaya Horse Rehabilitation Week to Benefit Neglected and Abandoned Horses in New Mexico

By Hyatt Regency

According to the New Mexico Livestock Board, more than 100,000 horses are abandoned in New Mexico annually.  As a result, the Stables at Hyatt Tamaya formed the Tamaya Horse Rehabilitation Program as a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit to rescue neglected, abused, unwanted and abandoned horses.  The goal of the program is to rehabilitate them by providing care, food, and training so they can survive and lead healthy lives.

Next week, Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa is holding the Tamaya Horse Rehabilitation Fundraiser, a five-day event beginning May 29, to educate local residents about the plight of unwanted New Mexico horses and raise funds to support the abandoned and neglected animals throughout the state.

The events will include a “Rounds for Rescue” golf tournament, youth volunteer and education day, virtual horse adoption by local companies, a community rodeo, and the “Horseshoes & Heels” Gala to complete the week of activities.

In fact, New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez is supporting the program and officially proclaimed next week as “New Mexico Horse Rehabilitation Week.”   The goal of the week is to help reduce the growing amount of abused and unwanted horses in the state, while featuring programs like Tamaya Horse Rehabilitation that rescue the abandoned animals.
