Twenty-first annual Freedom Run 5-killometer in Albuquerque now taking entries for Fourth of July event

Event presented by Business Group and Manzano Day School, race time is 7 a.m., race course on Tingley Drive

The 21st annual Freedom Run takes care of business and brings a fun time for the runners on the Fourth of July.

Hosted by TCR Productions/FIeet Feed Sports(Albuquerque West Downtown), it’s for the young, middle age and senior citizens. Run New Mexico’s fastest USAT&F Certified 5-killometer race course in the morning and watch the fireworks at night.

Race time is scheduled for 7 a.m.

There’s the 1-killometer fitness-walk for the youngsters. There’s the 5K for the more serious runners. The race course is on Tingley Drive in Albuquerque, and it’s just east of the Albuquerque BioPark Aquarium.

On display will be the Fleet feet sports images, the West Downtown logo, and the Albuquerque Manzano Day School logo high resolution.

Manzano and the Business Group will present the event, and the Freedom Run will be supporting the Horizons Albuquerque, which is a transformational, community-centered program proven to chose the opportunity and achievement gaps for low-income children.

A national network of locally vested programs, Horizons offers a high quality learning experience outside of the traditional school year that supports academic achievement and healthy youth development.

The walk-in registration locations and packet pick ups are at Treck Bicycle Superstore and Fleet Feet Sports Albuquerque. Packet pickup takes place on Tuesday, July 3, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

For team on-line registrations, teams must be made up of six or more members (any gender) and will be scored by the five fastest finishers.

The team captains must go online and create the team with a name. Once the team is created, each individual team member can go online and join the team under the team option and team name.

The first place team will receive a $100 gift certificate to any West Downtown restaurant of its choice. A free Freedom Run T-shirt will be given to all entries.
