Alumni Pond: Jerrod Butler, age 13, of Las Cruces, caught a 24.5-inch catfish May 26. He was using chicken liver.

Cabresto Creek: Alexx Vigil, age 4, of Questa, caught a 20-inch brown trout May 23. He was using a worm.

Lake Maloya: Jack Cisneros of Albuquerque caught and released a 26-inch brown trout May 24. He was using salmon peach PowerBait.

Morphy Lake: Harold Santillanes, age 8, of Las Vegas, New Mexico, caught a 19-inch rainbow trout May 23. He was using PowerBait. Daniel Montoya, age 10, of Holman, caught a 17-inch rainbow May 25. He was using Fire Balls and PowerBait.

Pecos River: Brandon Albert of Albuquerque caught a 22-inch rainbow trout May 26. He was using a barbless hook Panther Martin.

Seven Springs Brood Pond: Marcus Sanchez, age 3, and Mateo Sanchez, age 5, of Rio Rancho, caught limits of trout, including an 18.5-inch rainbow caught by Mateo, May 27. They were using Pautzke chartreuse garlic eggs and green PowerBait.

Springer Lake: Michael Jay Salazar, age 10, of Las Vegas, New Mexico, caught a 35-inch, 20-pound northern pike May 26. He was using a Berkley Gulp minnow.

Storrie Lake: Aryanna Vasquez, age 7, caught a 24-inch channel catfish May 27. She was using worms.

Elephant Butte Lake: Pablo Padilla of Las Cruces caught a 25-inch, 5.5-pound walleye May 19. He was trolling a white curly tail grub.

Cabresto Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Charette Lakes: Fishing was good using PowerBait, Fire Balls and Pistol Petes for rainbow trout. A few were also caught by anglers using spinners.

Cimarron River: Stream flow below Eagle Nest on Monday morning was 20.1cfs. Trout fishing was good using worms, yellow sallies, parachute Adams, elk hair caddis, micro mays and bead-head hares ears. Fishing at the Gravel Pit lakes was fair using Pistol Petes, PowerBait and worms.

Clayton Lake:  Trout fishing continued to be very good with many anglers reporting catching limits. They were using PowerBait and spoons. Fishing was good using worms for bluegill. We had no reports on other species. The Annual Trout Derby will be held June 9 and 10. For more information, call the park office at (575) 374-8808.

Conchas Lake: Fishing was rated as slow for some and very good for others with the best reports coming from anglers who were fishing at night. They were using grubs, minnows, liver, crank baits, jerk baits, chatter baits, tubes, swim baits, worms, curly tail grubs, creature baits and senkos for a mixed bag of smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, white bass, walleye and catfish. Fishing was good using poppers, worms and small grubs for bluegill. The surface water temp ranged from the high 60s to 70 degrees.

Costilla Creek: Stream flow below Costilla Dam on Monday morning was 86.4 cfs. We had no reports from anglers.

Cowles Ponds: Fishing was good using PowerBait, Pistol Petes, elk hair caddis, Fire Balls and small spinners for trout.

Coyote Creek: Fishing was fair to good using Fire Balls and worms for trout.

Eagle Nest Lake: HOT SPOT FOR PERCH: Fishing was very good using worms, salmon eggs and small spinners for perch up to 12 inches. Fishing was slow for some but fair to good for others using PowerBait, spoons, spinners and worms for rainbow trout and an occasional kokanee salmon. Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait, soft plastics, crank baits and streamers for northern pike up to 45 inches. The courtesy docks are in place. The Eagle Nest Fly Shack and Lodge Annual Pike Tournament is June 2nd and 3rd. For more information, call (505) 485-8328.

Eagle Rock Lake: Fishing was good using PowerBait, Pistol Petes and Panther Martins for trout.

Gallinas River: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Hopewell Lake: Fishing was good using worms and olive Pistol Petes for trout.

Lake Alice: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Lake Maloya: Fishing was very good using PowerBait, Pistol Petes, gold Kastmasters, bead-head wooly buggers and bead-head prince nymphs for trout. The Sugarite Canyon State Park Annual Fishing Derby will be held Sat. May 26-Sun. June 3. For more information, contact the park office and (575) 445-5607.

Los Pinos River: Fishing was fair to good using bead-head hares ears, worms and Fire Balls for trout.

Maxwell Lake 13: Fishing was good using Fire Balls, PowerBait and Kastmasters for trout. Fishing was fair using soft plastics and crank baits for largemouth bass. We had no other reports.

Monastery Lake: Fishing was very good using Pistol Petes, spinners, PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout. Rick Martinez reported that he and Bertha Blanco of Tucson, Arizona, caught and released several trout this past week. They were using spinners and Pistol Petes under a bobber.

Morphy Lake: The boat ramp has been closed due to low water conditions. Hand launching of small craft such as kayaks and canoes is still allowed. For updates, contact the park office at (575) 387-2328. Fishing was good using PowerBait, Fire Balls and worms for trout.

Pecos River: Streamflow near Pecos on Monday morning was 19.1 cfs. Trout fishing was fair to good for anglers using small spinners, worms, PowerBait, Fire Balls, elk hair caddis, small copper John Barrs and prince nymphs.

Red River: Stream flow below the hatchery on Monday morning was 42.9 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Rio Grande: Stream flow on Monday morning at the Taos Junction Bridge was 312 cfs. Fishing was good using elk hair caddis, wooly buggers, micro mays, chamois leeches, San Juan worms, mop flies, spinners and night crawlers for brown and rainbow trout, smallmouth bass and an occasional northern pike.

Rio Hondo: Stream flow on Monday morning near Valdez was 19.3 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Rio Mora: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Rio Pueblo: Stream flow near Penasco on Monday morning was 3.23 cfs. We had no reports from anglers.

Santa Cruz Reservoir: Fishing was fair to good using Fisher Chick spinners, gold Panther Martins, Super Dupers, PowerBait and Velveeta cheese for trout. We had no reports on other species.

Shuree Ponds:  Closed for the season.

Springer Lake: Fishing was fair to good using Rat L Traps and Gulp minnows for northern pike. We had no reports on other species.

Storrie Lake: Fishing was good using PowerBait, Fire Balls, garlic cheese and worms for rainbow trout. Fishing was slow to fair using worms for catfish. We had no other reports.

Stubblefield Lake: Fishing was fair to good using crank baits, curly tail grubs, swim baits and night crawlers for walleye and largemouth bass.

Ute Lake: HOT SPOT FOR CRAPPIE: Anglers rated crappie fishing as very good to excellent this past week as they were hitting minnows, plastic grubs, small tubes and crank baits and appear to be spawning. Fishing for walleye was good using crank baits, jerk baits, minnows and grubs in 8 to 12 feet of water in the trees. Fishing was good using worms, grubs and flies for bluegill. Fishing was good using spinners, minnows, crank baits, jerk baits, tubes and senkos for smallmouth bass. Several largemouth bass were caught by anglers using soft plastic baits. Fishing was good trolling crank baits at 8 to 10 feet for white bass. We had no other reports. The surface water temp was around 70 degrees.

Abiquiu Lake: Fishing was good using tubes, senkos, crank baits, soft swim baits, Roboworms, Rooster Tails and wooly buggers for smallmouth bass. Fishing was fair to good using jig and grub and jig and worm combinations, crank baits, spoons, Roboworms and minnows for walleye. Fishing for catfish was fair using liver, night crawlers, homemade dough bait and dip bait. Fishing was fair using worms for perch. We had no other reports.

Animas River: Water flow below Aztec on Monday morning was 704 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Albuquerque Area Drains: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Bluewater Lake: Fishing was fair using crank baits, in-line spinners and hot dogs for tiger muskie. Fishing for trout and catfish was slow, but there was a 16-pound catfish caught. We had no other reports.

Brazos River: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Canjilon Lakes: Closed by the U.S. Forest Service until further notice. The area may reopen later this year.

Chama River: Monday morning water flows below El Vado and Abiquiu were 627 cfs and 746 cfs respectively. Trout fishing above and below El Vado was fair to good using wooly buggers, prince nymphs, spinners, night crawlers, Fire Balls and PowerBait for brown and rainbow trout. We had no reports from below Abiquiu.

Cochiti Lake: Fishing was very good using minnows and small jigs for crappie. Fishing was slow to fair using sassy shad, swim baits and crank baits for white bass. Fishing was fair using crank baits, spinner baits, jigs, senkos and tubes for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was slow to fair using minnows, jigs, crank baits and Rooster Tails for northern pike and walleye. Fishing was fair using corn for carp. We had no reports on other species.

El Vado Lake: Fishing was good using crank baits, jerk baits, tubes, Panther Martins, swim baits and worms for smallmouth bass. Most of the bass caught were small. Fishing was fair using worms and small plastics for perch. Fishing was fair using spinners and night crawlers for brown trout.

Fenton Lake: Fishing was good using worms, PowerBait, leeches and mop flies for brown and rainbow trout. The best action was on cloudy days.

Heron Lake: Fishing from the bank and from boats saw improved results from the previous week. Anglers were trolling Panther Martins and Double Whammies and catching rainbow trout and a few brown trout and kokanee. The fish were scattered from the surface down to about 15 feet. Best baits from the bank were PowerBait and Fire Balls for rainbow trout. We had no reports on other species.

Jackson Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Jemez Waters: Stream flow on the Jemez River near Jemez Springs on Monday morning was 11.0 cfs. Trout fishing on the Jemez, San Antonio, East Fork, Cebolla and Rio Las Vacas was good using worms, small bead-head hares ears, elk hair caddis, mop flies, worms and Fire Balls. Anglers fishing the lower Cebolla also had good luck using small plastic worms.

Laguna del Campo: Fishing was fair to good using Pistol Petes, small spinners, worms and PowerBait for trout.

Lagunitas Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Lake Farmington: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Manzano Lake: Fishing was good using Pistol Petes, Panther Martins, worms and salmon peach PowerBait for trout.

Navajo Lake: Fishing was good using jerk baits, curly tail grubs, senkos, worms, tubes, flukes, crank baits and chatter baits for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was fair using swim baits, spinner baits, jerk baits and crank baits for northern pike. Fishing was fair to good using minnows and small tubes for crappie. Fishing was good using worms and curly tail grubs for perch. We had no reports on kokanee salmon or trout.

San Gregorio Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

San Juan River: Stream flow on Sunday morning was raised to 650 cfs and was flowing at 640 cfs on Monday morning. Another increase in flow is scheduled for June 5 as it will be raised to 2,000 cfs and brought back down by June 7.  Fishing through the Quality waters was good using small midge larva, pupa and emerger patterns, small pheasant tail nymphs, RS2s, and foam beetles. Trout fishing through the bait waters was fair using jerk baits, Super Dupers, Kastmasters, San Juan worms, chamois leeches, night crawlers and Fire Balls.

Seven Springs Brood Pond: Fishing was very good using small spinners, worms, PowerBait and Fire Balls for rainbow trout.

Tingley Beach: Fishing in the Central and Youth ponds was good using liver, homemade dough bait and worms for catfish. Fishing in the Bob Gerding Catch and Release Pond was slow.

Trout Lakes: Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait, Fire Balls and spinners for trout.

Alumni Pond: Fishing was fair to good using chicken liver, hot dogs and worms for catfish. We had no other reports.

Bear Canyon Lake: Fishing was good using night crawlers, hot dogs and liver for catfish. Fishing was fair using PowerBait, wooly buggers and Pistol Petes for trout. We had no other reports.

Bill Evans Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Caballo Lake: Fishing was good using live shad, sassy shad, curly tail grubs and crank baits for white bass and crappie. Michael Mackewich reported catching several white bass and a black crappie this past week. He was using live shad. Fishing was fair to good using liver and homemade dough bait for catfish. We had no other reports.

Elephant Butte Lake: Fishing was very good using sassy shad, minnows, crank baits, jerk baits, spinners, curly tail grubs and white, silver and chartreuse spoons for white bass. Fishing for walleye was fair to good using minnows, sassy shad, curly tail grubs and crank baits. Fishing was fair using minnows, and small jigs for crappie. Fishing for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass was good using senkos, tubes, chatter baits, jerk baits, top water lures, creature baits and crank baits. Fishing was good using cut bait, minnows and liver for catfish.

Escondida Lake: Fishing was fair to good using chicken liver, homemade dough bait, hot dogs and worms for catfish. We had no other reports.

Gila River: Stream flow on Monday morning was 18.7 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Glenwood Pond: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Lake Roberts: We had no reports from anglers this week. The 7th Annual Aldo Leopold Kids Fishing Derby will be held here June 2nd.

Percha Dam: Fishing was fair to good using liver and cut bait for catfish. We had no other reports.

Quemado Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Rancho Grande Ponds: Fishing was slow to fair using PowerBait and salmon eggs for trout. Fishing was good using worms and hot dogs for catfish.

Rio Grande: Stream flow below Elephant Butte Monday morning was 806 cfs. Fishing was good using liver, cut bait and night crawlers for catfish. Fishing was fair using minnows and curly tail grubs for walleye and white bass. We had no other reports.

Snow Lake: Fishing was very good using PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout. Benjamin Giron reported that the Giron family from Albuquerque, Las Cruces, Ruidoso, El Paso, Texas and Redlands, California all caught their limits of trout over the weekend.

Young Pond: Fishing was slow for all species.

Alto Lake: Fishing was fair using worms and hot dogs for catfish. A few trout were caught by anglers using Pistol Petes and PowerBait.

Bataan Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Black River: Stream flow at Malaga on Monday morning was 17.8 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Blue Hole Park Pond: Fishing was fair using PowerBait for trout. Fishing was fair to good using liver, worms and hot dogs for catfish.

Bonito Lake: Closed until further notice by the city of Alamogordo due to fire damage. The lake is scheduled to reopen in August 2018.

Bosque Redondo Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using chicken liver for catfish. We had no other reports.

Bottomless Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Brantley Lake: Fishing was fair to good using crank baits, spinners, spoons, sassy shad, tubes and curly tail grubs for white bass. Fishing was fair to good using jerk baits, crank baits, senkos and tubes for largemouth. There was a report of one small catfish caught, but we have no further information.

Carlsbad Municipal Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Chaparral Park Lake: Fishing was fair to good using homemade dough bait, liver and worms for catfish. We had no other reports.

El Rito Creek: Fishing was fair using PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout. We had no other reports.

Eunice Lake: Fishing was good using worms, homemade dough bait and liver for catfish.

Green Meadow Lake: Fishing was good using liver, hot dogs and worms for catfish. We had no other reports.

Greene Acres Lake: Fishing was good using chicken liver and homemade dough bait for catfish.

Grindstone Reservoir: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Jal Lake: Fishing was fair to good using worms and liver for catfish.

Lake Van: Fishing was fair using blood bait, chicken liver, hot dogs and worms for catfish. We had no other reports.

Oasis Park Lake: Fishing was good using worms and liver for catfish. We had no other reports.

Pecos River: Stream flow below Sumner Lake on Monday morning was 70.0 cfs. Fishing below Sumner and downstream was fair to good using liver, night crawlers and cut bait for catfish. We had no other reports.

Perch Lake: Fishing was good using PowerBait and hot dogs for catfish. We had no other reports.

Ruidoso River: Stream flow on Monday morning at Hollywood was 4.90 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Santa Rosa Lake: Fishing was good using crank baits, Robo worms, tubes, senkos, chatter baits and curly tail grubs for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. Fishing was fair to good using minnows, sassy shad and crank baits for crappie and walleye. We had no other reports.

Sumner Lake: Fishing for walleye was fair to good using crank baits, sassy shad, minnows, jig and grub combinations and jig and night crawler combinations. Fishing for crappie was fair using minnows and grubs. Fishing was fair using jerk baits, curly tail grubs, finesse worms, crank baits, chatter baits and tubes for largemouth bass, smallmouth bass and white bass. We had no other reports.
