‘MIX’ EQUIPS GEN Z WITH POWER TO EFFECT GLOBAL CHANGE

CIY program to bring thousands to Glorieta July 30-Aug. 2

Submitted by Christ in Youth

GLORIETA, NM – According to Barna Group research, 35 percent of young people between the ages of 13-18 claim to be agnostic, atheist or unaffiliated with any religion. The irony of that fact is that this demographic – known as Gen Z – is more interested in social justice and volunteering than nearly every American generation before them.

Christ In Youth’s summer program for middle school students, MIX, will help students from that generation understand that the instinct they feel to better the world around them actually comes from Christ’s call on their lives to be Kingdom workers.

This four-day summer conference tour will take place July 30-Aug. 2 at Glorieta Camps in Glorieta, New Mexico on the 20-city tour. The theme for this summer’s tour will shed light on the contrast between living a life with Christ and not.

According to Taylor Brown, MIX program director, this year’s conference is centered around the book of 1 John, and will present vital information for Jr. high students who now make up the most unchurched generation in American history (according to Barna Group research). On top of dynamic teaching and powerful praise and worship sessions, MIX designs intentional moments for youth groups to connect to their leaders and have fun.

“MIX prepares Jr. highers for Kingdom work by communicating God’s Word at their level,” Brown said. “We can’t equip Jr. highers for Kingdom work if they don’t have a firm understanding of God’s Word. They need to know who God is, who Jesus is and what the Kingdom of God is for them to do His work. We teach scripture at their age level, and give them tangible application points. The challenges are specific, practical and age-intentional.”

MIX enlists the help of some of the best Jr. high school speakers in the world. Glorieta’s event will feature Kurt Johnston, students pastor at Saddleback Church in Southern California.
