MIX Unveils PNM Grant Funded: Parque ¡A Huevo!’

PNM Resources Foundation Power-Up Grant awarded to MIX Santa Fe funds Katherine Lee-designed mobile park.

By MIX Santa Fe

July 26, 2018, Santa Fe, NM — At its July event hosted by El Rey Court, MIX Santa Fe unveiled Parque ¡A Huevo!, a pop-up parklet available for public use. The small, mobile park was designed by Katherine Lee (www.katherinelee.net), a Santa Fe-based contemporary artist and fabricator. The Parque ¡A Huevo! Demonstrates her signature creativity. The quirkily named parklet takes on a horizontal egg shape, detailed with a long wooden overhead shade, and soft turf at your feet.

This project is a continuing manifestation of outcomes based on the re:MIKE Midtown planning project (www.remikeable.com) and is part of a proposal funded by the PNM Foundation to produce three mobile parks. Along with its two siblings, Parque ¡A Huevo! is designed to bring new life and pedestrian amenities to areas with fewer resources and community pop-up events.  BuIlt on a large trailer platform, this functional space can be used anywhere and everywhere you can drive it and park it. The parklet was fabricated in conjunction with Extraordinary Structures (www.extraordinarystructures.com) and was overseen by MIX co-founder Zane Fischer. MIX began in 2009 as a talent retention project and has evolved to be a multifaceted community development organization. We connect diverse and ever-changing constituencies through community-sourced, data-driven engagement activities at five monthly networking events each year in conjunction with bizMIX, an annual startup accelerator.

MIX helps individuals find jobs, friends, camaraderie and more while empowering businesses to find talent, customers, information and opportunities. It’s an authentic, collaborative forum that facilitates real connection and changes the networking game. We set the stage for genuine connectivity and encourage magic to happen. MIX and our always changing partner venues provide atmosphere, bring engaged people, frame community conversation and drive new relationships.

Active professionals in the MIX community include entrepreneurs, artists, civil servants and anyone who wants to collaborate, celebrate and pursue a passion. MIX has between 200 and 400+ attendees at each bimonthly networking event between March and November on the third Thursday of the month from 6:00-8:00pm. Every event happens in a different location around Santa Fe and seeks to spotlight new, underutilized or underexposed places, organizations, and/or issues. Each event showcases local talent, specifically, photographers, DJs, graphic designers, volunteers, local chefs, bar-experts, artists and interesting people, businesses, products and projects.

In short, MIX is a community driven project building a collaborative future. Our founders had a vision to reconnect Santa Feans, and strengthen the ties that bind us together. Come to MIX, take a survey, grab a drink or snack, get comfortable, and get to know the community and find the opportunity that you may have never known was waiting for you to seize it.
