Alumni Pond: Marlo Flores of Las Cruces caught a 6-pound catfish June 29. He was using hot dogs.

Bluewater Lake: Kelly Matkovich of Gallup caught a 20-pound catfish June 26. She was using hot dogs. Coda Omness of Tinnie, New Mexico caught and released a 38-inch tiger muskie June 27. She was using a swim bait. Prescott Scargall, age 9, of Santa Fe, caught and released a 40-inch tiger muskie June 28. He was using a Whopper Stopper 130 top water lure. On June 29, he caught and released a 42-inch, 28-pound tiger muskie. He was using a 7-inch jointed crank bait.

Charette Lakes: Anaise Lucero, age 7, of Las Vegas, New Mexico, caught a 38-inch carp. She was using orange PowerBait.

Cochiti Lake: Amanda Fields, age 14, of Pena Blanca caught a 17-inch, 2-pound, 8-ounce catfish July 1. She was using a Mepps spinner. Amanda and her twin sister Jessica also caught three frogs while using frog lures.

Conchas Lake: Lucas Padilla, age 7, of Bernalillo, caught a 19-inch walleye June 29. He was using a Rapala.

Coyote Creek: Brayden Torres, age 6, of Albuquerque, caught a limit of rainbow trout June 30. He was using orange PowerBait.

Eagle Nest Lake: Johnny Quintana of Folsom caught a 23-inch rainbow trout July 1. He was using a Panther Martin. He also caught a 36-inch northern pike while using a Rapala. Jose Sintas of Capulin caught a 33-inch northern pike July 1. He was using a spinner bait.

Elephant Butte Lake: The Sloan brothers, Abe, age 10, Ben, age 10, and Judah, age 8, of Albuquerque caught a mixed bag of white bass, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, catfish and white drum June 29 and 30. They were using worms under a bobber and crank baits.

Green Meadow Lake: Darrell Carr of Ruidoso caught and released a 5.5-pound largemouth bass June 26. He was using a black and blue lure. Albert Rodriguez of Hobbs caught several big catfish June 30. He was using shrimp and worms.

Lake Maloya: Ashley Wojtowicz of Springer caught a 22-inch rainbow trout June 26. She was using a Platte River special tipped with PowerBait.

Navajo Lake: Jack Thompson of Farmington caught a 5-pound smallmouth bass June 25. He was using a split shot rig.

Red River: Ryan Timberlake, age 11, of Texico, caught an 18-inch rainbow trout June 26. He was using worms.

Rio Grande River: Mike Fierro of El Paso, Texas caught a 27-inch, 15-pound blue catfish June 30. He was fishing the river in Truth or Consequences and using shiners.

Tingley Beach: Leeann Albers, age 12, of Albuquerque, caught a 25-inch, 12-pound and a 20-inch, 3 to 4-pound channel catfish June 29. She was using Catfish Charlie’s extra-sticky dip bait.

Lake Van: Rachel Romero of Roswell caught a 22-inch, 3.8-pound catfish July 2. She was using chicken liver.

The following reports came in late but deserve a mention:

Abiquiu Lake: Paul Stein of Los Alamos caught and released a 25-inch walleye June 24. He was using a jig and curly tail grub.

Cochiti Lake: Dr Nick Nardacci of Albuquerque caught a 6-pound channel catfish June 20. He was using worms. His daughter Jenica and her friend Vanessa caught a 20-inch northern pike and 15 nice size crappie. They were using minnows.

Quemado Lake: Frankie Ruybal of Albuquerque caught and released a 28-inch and a 34-inch tiger muskie June 23. He was using a handmade custom blue streamer.

Charette Lakes: Fishing was good using PowerBait, Fire Balls, marshmallows and worms for rainbow trout. A few carp were caught by anglers using corn and PowerBait.

Cimarron River: The river through Cimarron Canyon and the Gravel Pit Lakes remain closed until further notice.

Clayton Lake:  Fishing was fair to good using worms and liver for catfish. Fishing was slow to fair using worms, PowerBait and spoons for trout. Fishing was fair using worms and spinner worm combinations for walleye. Fishing was slow to fair using top water lures and crank baits for largemouth bass. Donald Vang caught a 3-pound, 12-ounce, largemouth June 30. He was using a blue and yellow top water lure. We had no reports on other species.

Conchas Lake: Fishing for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass was fair for anglers using tubes, finesse worms, minnows, senkos, sweet beavers and swim baits. Fishing was slow to fair using sassy shad, minnows, crank baits, spoons and curly tail grubs for walleye and white bass. Fishing was good using worms and small grubs for bluegill. Fishing was fair using shrimp, minnows, hot dogs and liver for catfish. We had no reports on other species.

Costilla Creek: Closed until further notice due to extreme fire danger.

Cowles Ponds: Closed until further notice due to extreme fire danger.

Coyote Creek: Fishing was very good using PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout.

Eagle Nest Lake: Fishing was good using worms for perch. Fishing was very good using PowerBait, worms, Platte River specials, Arnies and Panther Martins for rainbow trout. Fishing was slow to fair using spinner baits, Rapalas and streamers for northern pike. We had no reports on other species.

Eagle Rock Lake: Fishing was very good using PowerBait, Fire Balls, worms, Pistol Petes, gold spinners and wooly buggers for trout.

Gallinas River: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Hopewell Lake: Closed until further notice due to extreme fire danger.

Lake Alice: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Lake Maloya: Fishing was very good using marshmallows, PowerBait, Pistol Petes, Panther Martins, Kastmasters, bead-head hares ears, elk hair caddis, copper John Barrs and bead-head pheasant tail nymphs for trout. Breana Valdez of Raton reported catching two nice rainbow trout this past weekend. She was using salmon peach PowerBait.

Los Pinos River: Closed until further notice due to extreme fire danger.

Maxwell Lake 13: Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout. Fishing was good using night crawlers, chicken liver and homemade dough bait for catfish. We had no other reports.

Monastery Lake: The lake has been closed due to extreme fire danger.

Morphy Lake: The park has been closed due to extreme fire danger.

Pecos River: The river and its tributaries above the town of Pecos in the Santa Fe National Forest have been closed until further notice due to extreme fire danger.

Red River: Stream flow below the hatchery on Monday morning was 38.8 cfs. Trout fishing was good using poundmeisters, mop flies, small spoons, worms, Fire Balls and PowerBait. Currently, the northeast bank of the river from the hatchery to the confluence of the Rio Grande and the portion of the river in the town of Red River remain open to fishing. The remainder of the river on forest land has been closed due to extreme fire danger.

Rio Grande: Stream flow on Monday morning at the Taos Junction Bridge was 200 cfs. Fishing was fair to good using elk hair caddis, bead-head hare’s ears, mop flies, leeches, small copper John Barrs, San Juan worms, Kastmasters and night crawlers for brown and rainbow trout. The best dry fly action has been in the evening hours. Fishing through the Albuquerque area was fair using liver and hot dogs for catfish. The portion of the river on the Carson National Forest has been closed due to extreme fire danger.

Rio Hondo: Stream flow on Monday morning near Valdez was 7.22 cfs. Fishing was good using salmon eggs for trout.

Rio Mora: Closed until further notice due to extreme fire danger.

Rio Pueblo: Stream flow near Penasco on Monday morning was 5.77 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Santa Cruz Reservoir: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Shuree Ponds:  The Valle Vidal has been closed due to extreme fire danger.

Springer Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Storrie Lake: Fishing was good using PowerBait and marshmallows for trout. We had no reports on other species.

Stubblefield Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Ute Lake: Fishing for walleye was rated as slow to fair by anglers using bottom bouncer rigs and crank baits. Fishing was fair using tubes, finesse worms, chigger craws, jerk baits and senkos for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was fair using top water lures for white bass. Fishing was very good using worms for bluegill. Night fishing was good using punch bait, chicken liver and night crawlers for catfish in about 8 feet of water. The surface water temperature on the main lake was in the high 70s.

Abiquiu Lake: Fishing was good using senkos, jerk baits, crank baits, curly tail grubs and swim baits for smallmouth bass. Fishing was good using crank baits, jerk baits, curly tail grubs, bottom bouncer rigs and spoons for walleye. Fishing for crappie was fair to good using micro tubes, small crank baits and small curly tail grubs. The surface temperature was in the mid 70s.

Animas River: Water flow below Aztec on Monday morning was 22.2 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Albuquerque Area Drains: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Bluewater Lake: Fishing was good using crank baits, jerk baits and swim baits for tiger muskie. Fishing for catfish was slow to fair using hot dogs and night crawlers. We had no other reports. The Las Tusas Recreation Area on the south side of the lake has been closed due to extreme fire danger.

Brazos River: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Canjilon Lakes: Closed by the U.S. Forest Service until further notice. The area may reopen later this year.

Chama River: Monday morning flows below El Vado and Abiquiu were 969 cfs and 960 cfs respectively. Trout fishing below El Vado was good using weighted wooly buggers, PowerBait, spoons and night crawlers for rainbow trout and an occasional brown trout.  We had no reports from below Abiquiu. The portion of the river on the Carson National Forest has been closed due to extreme fire danger.

Cochiti Lake: Fishing was fair to good using worms, spinners and liver for catfish. Fishing was fair using minnows for a mixed bag of crappie, perch, white bass and northern pike. Fishing was slow to fair using jigs, sweet beavers, senkos and crank baits for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was fair using worms, shrimp and chicken liver for catfish. We had no other reports.

El Vado Lake: Fishing was fair to good using worms, PowerBait, spinners, tubes and grubs for rainbow trout and smallmouth bass. The best action was reported by anglers fishing near the dam.

Fenton Lake: Closed until further notice due to extreme fire danger.

Heron Lake: Bank fishing was fair to good using PowerBait, spinners and worms for rainbow trout. We had no reports on other species. A few carp were caught by anglers using PowerBait. Heron Lake State Park is hosting a carp fishing derby July 4. For more information, call the state park office at (575) 588-7470.

Jackson Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Jemez Waters: Closed until further notice due to extreme fire danger.

Laguna del Campo: Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait and Pistol Petes for trout.

Lagunitas Lakes: Closed until further notice due to extreme fire danger.

Lake Farmington: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Manzano Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Navajo Lake: Fishing was good using curly tail grubs, tubes, senkos, spinner baits, crank baits, swim baits and chatter baits for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Michael Williams of Navajo Dam reported a good day on the water this past week. It was his first day pitching soft plastics, and he and Chris Jarvis of Albuquerque caught several big smallmouth bass and a few largemouth bass. Fishing was fair to good using swim baits, jerk baits and crank baits for northern pike. Fishing was fair using worms and grubs for perch. Fishing was slow to fair using small tubes and curly tail grubs for crappie. Fishing for kokanee was a bit sporadic but anglers did manage to catch a few at 40 to 50 feet. They were trolling spinner corn and spinner PowerBait combinations. We had no reports on other species.

San Gregorio Lake: Closed until further notice due to extreme fire danger.

San Juan River: The stream flow below Navajo Lake was raised to 1050 cfs Monday afternoon. Fishing through the Quality Waters was good using Griffiths gnats, dead chickens, small bead-head pheasant tail nymphs, BWOs, hoppers, red annelids, mini Macs and RS2s. Trout fishing through the bait waters was good using mayfly nymphs, bead-head hare’s ears, copper John Barrs, chamois leeches, Panther Martins, jerk baits, worms and Fire Balls.

Seven Springs Brood Pond: The pond has been closed due to extreme fire danger.

Tingley Beach: Fishing in the Central and Youth ponds was good using shrimp, liver, worms and homemade dough bait for catfish. We had no other reports. Trout Lakes: Closed until further notice due to extreme fire danger.

Alumni Pond: Fishing was fair to good using hot dogs, liver and homemade dough bait for catfish. We had no reports on other species.

Bear Canyon Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using hot dogs, shrimp, worms and liver for catfish. Fishing was fair using worms for bluegill. We had no other reports.

Bill Evans Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Caballo Lake: Fishing was fair using sassy shad, minnows, curly tail grubs, tubes and crank baits for white bass and walleye. Fishing was good using shrimp, night crawlers, liver and cut bait for catfish. The Pacheco family from Grants had good luck here this past week catching 15 white bass averaging 1.5 pounds and 7 channel catfish averaging just under 4 pounds. They were using shad and worms. We had no other reports.

Elephant Butte Lake: Fishing was very good using senkos, tubes, top water lures, chigger craws, sweet beavers, worms and crank baits for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. Fishing was good using sassy shad, spoons, crank baits, jerk baits and curly tail grubs for white bass. Fishing for walleye was good using sassy shad, spoons and curly tail grubs. Fishing for bluegill was good using worms. Fishing was good using cut bait, shrimp, minnows and chicken liver for catfish.

Escondida Lake: Fishing was good using punch bait, liver and hot dogs for catfish. We had no reports on other species.

Gila River: Stream flow on Monday morning was 20.7 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Glenwood Pond: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Lake Roberts: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Percha Dam: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Quemado Lake: Fishing was slow with just a few tiger muskie caught by anglers using streamers, swim baits and jerk baits. We had no reports on other species.

Rancho Grande Ponds: Fishing was fair to good using hot dogs, worms and liver for catfish.

Rio Grande: Stream flow below Elephant Butte Monday morning was 1,600 cfs. Fishing was good using liver, shiners, cut bait and shrimp for catfish. We had no reports on other species.

Snow Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week

Young Pond: Fishing was fair using hot dogs and homemade dough bait for catfish.

Alto Lake: Fishing was fair using liver and worms for catfish. We had no reports on other species.

Bataan Lake: Fishing was fair to good using liver, hot dogs and worms for catfish. Fishing was fair using worms for bluegill. We had no other reports.

Black River: Stream flow at Malaga on Monday morning was 44.7 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Blue Hole Park Pond: Fishing was slow to fair using night crawlers for catfish. We had no reports on other species.

Bonito Lake: Closed until further notice by the city of Alamogordo due to fire damage. The lake is scheduled to reopen in August 2018.

Bosque Redondo Lake: Fishing was fair using liver and homemade dough bait for catfish. We had no reports on other species.

Bottomless Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Brantley Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Carlsbad Municipal Lake: Fishing was good using hot dogs, chicken liver and night crawlers for catfish. Fishing was good using worms for bluegill. Fishing was fair using crank baits, curly tail grubs and tubes for largemouth bass and white bass.

Chaparral Park Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using shrimp and liver for catfish. We had no reports on other species.

El Rito Creek: Fishing was good using worms, Fire Balls and PowerBait for trout. We had no reports on other species.

Eunice Lake: Fishing was good using hot dogs, liver and homemade dough bait for catfish.

Green Meadow Lake: Fishing was good using worms, hot dogs and shrimp for catfish. Fishing for largemouth bass was slow but a few were caught by anglers using jigs, tubes and crank baits.

Greene Acres Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using night crawlers, shrimp and chicken liver for catfish.

Grindstone Reservoir: Fishing was good using PowerBait, marshmallows, worms and Fire Balls for rainbow trout. Jennifer Gibson of Las Cruces reported catching and releasing several 6 to 7-inch bluegill this past week. She was using worms. We had no reports on other species.

Jal Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Lake Van: Fishing was fair using hot dogs and chicken liver for catfish. We had no reports on other species.

Oasis Park Lake: Fishing was fair to good using worms, homemade dough bait and liver. We had no other reports.

Pecos River: Stream flow below Sumner Lake on Monday morning was 98.8 cfs. Fishing was slow to fair using night crawlers and liver for catfish. The area below Sumner Lake will close July 2 and remain closed for the duration of a high water release.

Perch Lake: Fishing was fair using shrimp and chicken liver for catfish.

Ruidoso River: Stream flow Monday morning at Hollywood was 3.03 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Santa Rosa Lake: Fishing was fair using creature baits, senkos, tubes, spinner baits, crank baits and top water lures for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. We had no reports on other species. A water release started July 2 and is expected to last for several days.

Sumner Lake: Had some mixed reports this week on fishing for white bass. Some anglers said it was slow while other reported catching several. They were using crank baits and curly tail grubs. Fishing was good using worms, liver and hot dogs for small catfish. A few smallmouth bass were caught by anglers using top water lures and tubes. We had no other reports. A water release is scheduled to begin July 5 and last for several days.
