Golf sport enthusiasts of all ages are invited to take a swing at the 20thannual “Fore” Kids Golf Tournament, set for Friday, August 31, 2018 at the Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe golf course. This highly-anticipated, four person scramble, is the only youth scholarship tournament that offers the youth of Santa Fe County recreational opportunities at the Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe Golf Course and Genoveva Chavez Community Center (GCCC). Since its inception, the tournament has raised over $206,000 in scholarship funds and has provided over 36,000 scholarships to children who could not otherwise afford to participate in these programs.
This year’s major sponsors include CSI/Chavez Security Inc., The Fidel Lee Gutierrez Lifetime Fund, George K. Baum & Company, Hutton Broadcasting and Okay Hotel Casinoand GCBendito 4, LLC (KSWV Radio). The tournament will also feature a hole-in-one contest sponsored by Santa Fe Motor Sports and various mulligan prizes courtesy of local businesses who have contributed to the tournament. Net and gross prizes will be awarded to top finishers.
To add to this year’s “Fore” Kids excitement, the event will feature a “Longest Drive” challenge, sponsored by GC Bendito 4, LLC (KSWV Radio), Honstein Oil, and Guadalupe Credit Union. The challenge will allow players to win some additional prize money by driving their golf ball from the #10 tee-box and getting it closest to the pin. Entry fee to participate in the “Longest Drive” challenge is $15 per golfer for one drive and $25 per golfer for two drives and is open to all skill levels. Top male and female finishers will win a monetary prize up to $500.
Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe is inviting the local businesses community to become a sponsor or offer an in-kind donation to help show support for this annual tournament. “Recognizing that every individual can make an impact is really something, and we are expecting to host one of the biggest Fore Kids tournaments than ever before,” stated Head Golf Pro, Alo Brodsky. “What a great way to show support and give the youth of Santa Fe an opportunity to a brighter future!”
