New Community-Based Coalition Forms to Address Local Housing Challenges

A diverse group of nearly 20 community organizations have formed a new coalition to improve access and affordability of housing for all residents of Santa Fe County through education and advocacy to spur action on key policy issues and public investments.

The group, known as the Santa Fe Housing Action Coalition (SFHAC) seeks to change the public conversation from one where housing is a problem to one where housing is an opportunity to enrich the community.  By highlighting the undisputable links between having a home, economic development, education, health, and the environment, SFHAC will grow support for housing by: mobilizing a diverse network of stakeholders; identifying and securing permanent public funding and other resources for affordable housing; and advocating for policies and processes that foster access to high-quality, sustainable housing options for people in all communities….
