Living Desert State Park Hosts March for Parks on Public Lands Day, September 29th

By NM Parks
Living Desert Zoo & Gardens State Park will host the annual March for Parks event on National Public Lands Day, Saturday, September 29th from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the zoo doors opening at 9 a.m. March for Parks has been a community event in Carlsbad, NM since 1995 and helps raise funding for community park projects and school field trips.
To participate in this fun event, pick up a pledge sheet at the Living Desert State Park, collect money from sponsors, and register at one of the two registration sites. For participants who wish to ride bikes, longboards, rollerblades or skateboards from the beach to the Zoo, there will be a registration table at the Lake Carlsbad Beach Park. Registration and turning in money at the beach is between 8:00 – 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept 29th.
Registration for the Marchers will take place between 9:00 – 9:30 at the base of the Ocotillo Trail behind NMSU-Carlsbad.  Marchers walk from the base of the trail up to the Living Desert, where an awards ceremony will be held.
Participants that raise the most money are eligible to win great prizes! Marchers are also given free zoo admission on the day of the event.
For more information, call the park at (575) 887-5516.
