NLBHA Awarded SAMHSA Center of Excellence and Prevention Technology Transfer Center

The NATIONAL LATINO BEHAVIORAL HEALTH ASSOCIATION, INC. is proud to announce our new partnership with the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) as it develops the SAMHSA Technology Transfer Centers (TTC) Program, which is comprised of the Addiction Technology Transfer Centers (ATTC), the Mental Health Technology Transfer Centers (MHTTC), and the Prevention Technology Transfer Centers (PTTC).

NLBHA has been awarded two 5-year grants from SAMHSA to participate in this program. The first one is for the creation of the Hispanic/Latino (H/L) Center of Excellence for Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Recovery Program (NLBHA H/L COE) and the second one is to create and implement the first Hispanic/Latino Prevention Technology Transfer Centers (NLBHA HIS-PTTC).

Dr. Pierluigi Mancini will be the Project Director for both centers and he will be supported by two Co-Directors under the guidance and supervision of NLBHA’s Executive Director Fredrick Sandoval, M

With over 30 years of experience in culturally and linguistically appropriate behavioral health treatment and prevention, Dr. Mancini is one of the most sought after national and international consultants and speakers on the subject of mental health and addiction, his area of expertise is immigrant behavioral health. Dr. Mancini founded Georgia’s only Latino behavioral health program in 1999 to serve the immigrant population by providing cultural and linguistically appropriate mental health and addiction treatment and prevention services in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
