By NMDOT

Time: 7:00 pm – Open House and 7:15 pm – Presentation

Project Summary:  The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) is proposing improvements to replace the existing NM 96 bridge over the Rio Puerco with reconstruction of the road approaches between milepost 31.5 and 31.9.

Public Meeting Purpose:  To provide information on the NM 96 Bridge Replacement Project and receive comments from the public. The existing bridge spanning the Rio Puerco would be removed and replace with a new wider steel girder bridge along the existing alignment.  The new 190-feet long bridge would clear span the channel. The new roadway typical section on each side of the bridge would consist of two 12-foot travel lanes and two 6-foot shoulders.  The bridge typical section would consist of two 12-foot travel lanes, two 6-foot shoulders, with 42-inch tall metal railing on each side. As part of the bridge replacement project, erosion control features are proposed in the Rio Puerco channel beneath the new bridge and upstream and downstream of the bridge.
