Catches of the week

Bataan Lake: Rafael Chacon of Loving caught a 21-inch catfish Dec. 16. He was using PowerBait.
Lake Van: Mark Salas of Dexter caught a 21-inch rainbow trout Dec. 23. He was using PowerBait.
Ute Lake: Olivia Vang, age 17 of Dalhart, TX caught her first walleye, a 20-inch, 2-pound, 11-ounce fish, Dec. 22. She was using a silver and blue blade bait.

Northeast Fishing Report

Cabresto Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Charette Lakes: Closed for the season.
Cimarron River: Stream flow below Eagle Nest on Monday morning was 2.77 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Clayton Lake:  Closed for the season.
Conchas Lake: Fishing was slow for all species.
Costilla Creek: Mark your calendar to check this one out next spring.
Cowles Ponds: Check this one out in the spring for some great trout action.
Coyote Creek: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Eagle Nest Lake: The lake remains closed to boating and ice fishing due to unsafe ice conditions. For updates, call the state park office at (575) 377-1594.
Eagle Rock Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Fawn Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Gallinas River: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Hopewell Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Lake Alice: The lake is closed to fishing at this time, due to dangerous ice conditions. For updated conditions, call the state park office at (575) 445-5607.
Lake Maloya: Fishing was good using PowerBait and salmon eggs for trout. A good deal of the lake was free of ice. Fishing pressure was light.
Los Pinos River: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Maxwell Lake 13: Closed for the season.
Monastery Lake: We had no reports from anglers. The lake is closed to ice fishing.
Morphy Lake: Work has begun on the dam and the lake will remain closed through the end of the year.
Pecos River: Stream flow near the town of Pecos on Monday morning was 20.5 cfs. Fishing in the Villanueva area was good using salmon eggs, copper John Barrs and PowerBait for trout.
Red River: Stream flow below the hatchery on Monday morning was 35.1 cfs. Trout fishing below Questa was fair to good using salmon eggs and PowerBait.
Rio Grande: Stream flow at the Taos Junction Bridge was 312 cfs. Trout fishing was fair to good using wooly buggers, spoons and salmon eggs. One angler using a spoon reported hooking but losing a northern pike. We had no other reports.
Rio Hondo: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Rio Mora: Stream flow on Monday morning was 6.02 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Rio Pueblo: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Santa Cruz Reservoir: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Shuree Ponds: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Springer Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Storrie Lake: Fishing was fair using PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout. Estevan Alarcon of Las Vegas caught a 16-inch rainbow December 18. He was using pink lemonade PowerBait.
Stubblefield Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Ute Lake: Fishing was fair to good using blade baits at depths from 15 to 65 feet for a mixed bag of walleye, white bass, catfish and smallmouth bass. Anglers casting blade baits on the deeper flats had the best luck catching smallmouth. We had no reports on other species. The surface temp was in the mid 40s.

Northwest Fishing Report

Abiquiu Lake: Fishing was slow for all species. Fishing pressure was light. Anglers should be aware that the boat ramp remains in rough shape and four-wheel drive has been recommended for launching boats.
Animas River: Water flow below Aztec on Monday morning was 197 cfs. Fishing was fair to good using salmon eggs, wooly buggers and egg patterns.
Albuquerque Area Drains: Trout fishing on the drains this past week was good using wax worms, salmon eggs, PowerBait and small streamers. We had no reports on other species.
Bluewater Lake: Rainbow trout stocked weekly during winter months. The lake has been closed to boating and about 50 percent was iced over as of Sunday morning. Shoreline fishing was available. For updated conditions, call the state park office at (505) 876-2391. Bluewater State Park’s winter hours (November 1-March 31, gate open 7AM-5PM).
Brazos River: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Canjilon Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Chama River: Monday morning flows below El Vado and Abiquiu were 24.2 cfs and 105 cfs respectively. Trout fishing at both locations was fair using small streamers, small bead head nymphs and salmon eggs.
Cochiti Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
El Vado Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Fenton Lake: The lake remained unsafe for ice fishing as of Sunday morning. For updates, call the state park office at (575) 829-3630.
Heron Lake: Fishing was good using PowerBait from the bank for rainbow trout. We had no reports on other species. Fishing pressure was very light.
Jackson Lake: Fishing was fair using PowerBait for trout. We had no reports on other species.
Jemez Waters: Stream flow on the Jemez near the town of Jemez on Monday morning was 17.9 cfs. Fishing below Battleship Rock was good using salmon eggs and copper John Barrs for trout. We had no other reports.
Laguna del Campo: Closed for the season.
Lagunitas Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Lake Farmington: Fishing was fair using PowerBait and salmon eggs for trout. We had no reports on other species.
Manzano Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Navajo Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using swim baits and crank baits for northern pike. We had no reports on other species.
San Gregorio Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
San Juan River: Stream flow below Navajo Lake on Monday morning was 289 cfs. Fishing through the Quality Water area was good using red larva, bright colored egg patterns, leeches and small midge patterns. Through the bait waters, trout fishing was fair to good using salmon eggs, wax worms, small egg patterns and earth worms.
Seven Springs Brood Pond: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Tingley Beach: Fishing was good using salmon eggs, PowerBait, wax worms and earth worms for trout. A few catfish were caught by anglers fishing deep and using worms. We had no reports on other species.
Trout Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Southwest Fishing Report

Alumni Pond: Fishing was good using PowerBait, garlic cheese, garlic Fire Balls and spinners for trout. We had no reports on other species. Brandon Villarreal, age 17 of Las Cruces had a decent day here on December 19. He caught three trout while using green PowerBait.
Bear Canyon Lake: Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait, salmon eggs and worms for trout. We had no reports on other species.
Bill Evans Lake: Fishing was good using PowerBait for trout. We had no reports on other species.
Caballo Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Elephant Butte Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using spoons, blade baits and jigs for white bass and largemouth bass. Fishing for catfish was slow, but a few were caught by anglers using liver and homemade dough bait. We had no reports on other species.
Escondida Lake: Fishing was slow with just a few trout caught by anglers using using wax worms and PowerBait.
Gila River: Stream flow on Monday morning was 69.5 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Glenwood Pond: Fishing was good using PowerBait and salmon eggs for trout.
Lake Roberts: Fishing was very good using PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout. We had no reports on other species.
Percha Dam: We had no reports from angles this week.
Quemado Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Rancho Grande Ponds: Fishing was good using PowerBait and salmon eggs for trout.
Rio Grande: Stream flow below Elephant Butte Monday morning was 1.26 cfs. Trout fishing was fair to good using PowerBait and worms. Fishing in the Mesilla Valley Dam area was fair using liver and homemade dough bait for catfish. We had no reports on other species.
Snow Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Young Pond: Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait, worms, salmon eggs and homemade dough bait for trout.

Southeast Fishing Report

Alto Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Bataan Lake: Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait, homemade dough bait and salmon eggs for trout. A few catfish were caught by anglers using PowerBait and homemade dough bait. We had no reports on other species.
Black River: Stream flow at Malaga on Monday morning was 13.9 cfs. Fishing was very good using salmon peach PowerBait for trout.
Blue Hole Park Pond: Fishing was good using PowerBait for trout.
Bonito Lake: Closed until further notice by the city of Alamogordo due to fire damage. It appears now that the lake will be out of commission until the spring of 2020.
Bosque Redondo Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Bottomless Lakes: Fishing at the Devil’s Inkwell was good using PowerBait for trout.
Carlsbad Municipal Lake: Fishing was good using garlic and cheese flavored PowerBait and salmon eggs for trout. We had no reports on other species.
Chaparral Park Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Corona Pond: We had no reports from anglers this week.
El Rito Creek: Fishing was good using wax worms, PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout.
Eunice Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Green Meadow Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using PowerBait and salmon eggs for trout. A few trout were also caught by anglers using spinners.
Greene Acres Lake: Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait, salmon eggs and worms for trout.
Grindstone Reservoir: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Jal Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using PowerBait for trout.
Lake Van: Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait, homemade dough bait and spinners for trout. We had no reports on other species.
Oasis Park Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using flies, worms, PowerBait and salmon eggs for trout. Bobby Garcia of Portales caught a 19.5-inch rainbow December 18. He was using a custom fly under a bubble. We had no reports on other species.
Pecos River: Stream flow below Sumner Lake on Monday morning was 15.1 cfs. Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait and small spoons for trout. We had no reports on other species.
Perch Lake: Fishing was good using PowerBait, salmon eggs and worms for trout. We had no reports on other species.
Ruidoso River: Stream flow on Monday morning at Hollywood was 5.03 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Santa Rosa Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Sumner Lake: Fishing was good using spoons, jig and grub combinations, jig and minnow combinations and blade baits for walleye. We had no reports on other species.
