Cimarron Canyon State Park Celebrates the 27th Annual Kids Fishing Derby

The 27th Annual Kids Fishing Derby for kids 3-11 years old will be held on Saturday, May 11 from 10 am –1 pm at Cimarron Canyon State Park.  There will be free t-shirts to the first 100 registrants and a free goodie bag to all who enter. There will be a special guest appearance by Smokey Bear.  The Fishing Derby will take place at the Gravel Pit Lakes, Maverick Campground, Cimarron Canyon State Park.

 

Fishing Derby Contest Rules:

 

  1. All entrants must be registered on a bona-fide entry form. Kids can register the day of event.
  2. Children must be 3-11 years old.
  3. The children may be assisted in casting their lines; however, they must reel in their own fish           and may only use one pole.
  4. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.
  5. Limit of 5 trout per child. Once they obtain his/her limit they are not allowed to continue to fish for the remainder of the day.

 

There is no fee for kids to enter the Fishing Derby.  A regular $5 Day Use fee applies to enter the Park. For more information, contact the Park office at 575-377-6271.
