State Cautions New Mexicans of Unlicensed Carnival Ride and Bounce House Operators

By New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department

The New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department is cautioning New Mexicans to be wary of unlicensed carnival ride and bounce house operators.
“With the carnival and summer season upon us, it is imperative to consumer safety that our operators are licensed,” said Marguerite Salazar, Superintendent of the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department. “Please call us before you hire a carnival, amusement ride, or bounce house operator, to verify that they meet our strict safety standards.”
The State of New Mexico requires that licensed operators conduct daily inspections, receive an annual NAARSO inspection, receive annual certification and carry liability insurance of at least three million dollars in aggregate.
Questions regarding the safe operation of popular inflatables like bounce houses and various amusement rides should be directed to the executive director at (505) 476-4853 or by email at paulina.Robinson@state.nm.us.
