Eagle Nest Lake State Park Closed to Boating

By EMNRD
Eagle Nest Lake is closed to boating and ice-fishing due to recent weather conditions that have led to unsafe lake conditions. The lake is currently closed to all watercraft including canoes, kayaks, inflatables, and all types of motorboats. A layer of ice has formed over portions of the lake, but not in the condition necessary to facilitate ice fishing. Park staff will continue monitoring ice conditions and will advise when the lake is safe for ice fishing.
While boat ramp access is closed, hiking trails remain open at the park. Please call the park office at (575) 377-1594 for current fishing and lake conditions or visit the park’s webpage at http://www.emnrd.state.nm.us/SPD/eaglenestlakestatepark.html.
For more information about fishing in northeastern New Mexico, please contact the Department of Game and Fish office in Raton at (505) 445-2311 or visit their website, www.wildlife.state.nm.us.
