Fenton Lake State Park Holiday Festivities

Jemez Springs, NM – Fenton Lake State Park is celebrating the holiday season with two special events including a Christmas tree lighting on Saturday, December 14^th and Farolitos at Fenton on Saturday, December 21^st. The Jemez Mountains provide the backdrop for this stunning year-round retreat surrounded by beautiful ponderosa pine forests.

The public is invited to donate tree ornaments and join in on decorating the tree. The Friends of Fenton Lake State Park and park staff will be decorating the Christmas tree beginning at 1:00 p.m. on the 14^th. The Christmas tree will be lit at 7:00 p.m. and there will be holiday cookies and hot cocoa provided by the Friends of Fenton Lake.

On Saturday, December 21^st, set up and lighting for Farolitos at Fenton will begin at 4:00 p.m.. Hot cocoa and cookies will be provided. $5 day-use entrance fee will apply for both events.

Fenton Lake State Park is a mellow mountain escape. The Rio Cebolla flows through the park and there is a lake for fishing, kayaking and canoeing. The park also attracts campers, hikers and cross-country skiers. There’s even a fun playground for the kids.

Stocked with rainbow trout from fall through spring, the lake is home to German brown trout, an ideal spot for fly fishing. Although most anglers prefer the warmth and comfort of summer, there is also winter ice fishing.
