SFCC Partners with Northern New Mexico College to bring three baccalaureate programs to Santa Fe Higher Education Center

Programs in Project Management, Information Engineering Technology and Integrated Studies (psychology focus) begin this fall

SANTA FE, NM – Santa Fe Community College announces that it is partnering with Northern New Mexico College at the Higher Education Center, 1950 Siringo Road, to offer three new opportunities this fall for people in Santa Fe to earn bachelor degrees.

“NNMC faculty and staff are very excited to partner with SFCC in this project,” NNMC Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs Ivan Lopez Hurtado, Ph.D. said. “Through this partnership, Santa Fe students will have access to affordable, high-quality and nationally accredited baccalaureate programs in Information Technology and Project Management. NNMC will also offer a Bachelor Degree in Integrative Studies with Emphasis in Psychology, which has been a dream for many graduates from SFCC. This great opportunity will provide local access to many Santa Fe residents to bachelor programs that otherwise wouldn’t be offered.”

SFCC President Randy Grissom said, “Our partnership with NNMC offers an excellent educational pathway for SFCC graduates who would like to pursue a bachelor’s degree while staying in Santa Fe. We know that earnings increase significantly as a worker’s degree of education rises. A healthy economic climate requires educated workers – at all levels.”

Through 2 + 2 articulation agreements with both colleges SFCC graduates can transfer seamlessly into the NNMC bachelor degree programs to be offered at the HEC. SFCC graduates with an AA in Business Administration or AA in Hospitality and Tourism can transfer seamlessly into Bachelor of Business Administration in Project Management.

To meet the growing workforce demands for individuals skilled in cybersecurity, NNMC in partnership with SFCC will offer an ABET-accredited Information Engineering Technology degree and Cisco and VMware certificates. Classes will be taught by Northern faculty on-site at the HEC. The program offerings include upper-division courses in cybersecurity, virtualization, telecommunications and networks. Those with SFCC associate degrees in computer science or engineering can easily transfer into the program.

The Bachelor’s degree in Independent Studies will focus on psychology with an emphasis in clinical and research aspects of psychology. SFCC graduates with an AA in Psychology will have their credits transfer to earn the bachelor’s degree.

Advisement for the NNMC programs will be done by the NNMC department chairs: Jorge Crichigno for Engineering (jcrichigno@nnmc.edu), Lori Baca for Business (Lbaca@nnmc.edu), and Stephanie Amedeo for Psychology (amedeo@nnmc.edu). Students need to contact Frank Orona for admissions (forona@nnmc.edu).

The HEC offers a hub for bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in Santa Fe through its partnership with other colleges and universities. New Mexico Highland’s University offers a wide range of programs through the HEC in the areas of business, education and social work.
