Students to compete for top spot in PNM Solar Car Races at Explora

More than 185 Native American fifth-grade students will put their design and engineering skills to the test as part of the 24th Annual PNM Solar Car Races this Friday, May 11, from 11:15 am to 12:45 pm at Explora. Students built 50 solar cars, with the top 21 power-packed cars making it to the race finals. The top three cars from each school earned the chance to race in the championship finals at Explora.

·         11:15 a.m. Opening remarks
·         11:30 a.m. Single-elimination racing begins (will last about one hour)
·         12:45 p.m. Awards

Participating tribal schools and programs this year are: Cochiti Pueblo Elementary School, , Mesa Elementary School (in Shiprock, NM), Ojo Amarillo Elementary (Fruitland, NM), Pueblo of Isleta Elementary School, Santo Domingo Elementary School, Tamaya Youth Wellness & Recreation after school program (Santa Ana Pueblo), and Te Tsu Geh Oweenge School (Tesuque Pueblo Elementary School).
