The NMBA would like to thank Senator Heinrich for agreeing to be the Democratic lead on the Senate Resolution for the Local Radio Freedom Act, the performance tax resolution. Every two years the NAB seeks support from every Senate and House members by signing onto the bipartisan resolution that opposes “any new performance fee, tax, royalty, or other charge” on local broadcast radio stations.
The NAB reached out to the NMBA to help secure the Senator’s participation as the Democratic lead in the Senate. Estevan Gonzales of Que Suave radio in Santa Fe and Mary Ann Armijo of iHeart Media in Gallup also reached out to the Senator. Senator Heinrich has signed onto the resolution each time it’s been introduced because he understands its importance to radio broadcasters in New Mexico.
The NMBA Board of Directors would like to thank Senator Martin Heinrich for his support and the work of Estevan and Mary Ann for working with the Senator and his staff as he will soon be taking the lead on this bipartisan support for local broadcasters across the country.
