Look for Notice of Value in the mail

County residents should receive notice in the next few days

By Santa Fe County | March 31, 2017

The Santa Fe County Assessor’s Office would like to notify residents they should be receiving their Notice of Value in the mail within the next few days. Notices will be mailed on Saturday, April 1, 2017. In conjunction with the mailing of the Notices, Assessor Martinez announces the Community Outreach Schedule for 2017 (see schedule below). The outreach events allow residents to meet with staff at various locations around the County to discuss any Assessor related business.

Property owners who disagree with the value determined by the Assessor’s Office may file a petition of protest in person at the Assessor’s Office located at 102 Grant Avenue, in Santa Fe, at any outreach location, or they may be filed through the Assessor’s website via the online protest filing portal (Click to access online protest filing portal).

“I’m hopeful that more people will utilize our online protest filing system that was first implemented last year. In 2016 over 51% of people who protested their valuation filed it online. My goal is to save property owners time and avoid the difficult parking situation in the downtown area,” said Assessor Gus Martinez.

In addition to their normal office hours, Assessor’s staff will be available at various Senior and Community Centers around Santa Fe County during the month of April to assist residents with filing for benefits and exemptions, as well as filing valuation protests.

The deadline to file for exemptions, benefits, and protests is May 1, 2017.

“We understand it can be difficult for residents to find time to come into our office. By reaching out to the community we create more opportunities and time for residents to meet in person with us,” said County Assessor, Gus Martinez.
