Celebrate Spring at New Mexico State Parks

Egg Hunts and an Open House During Holiday Weekend

SANTA FE, NM – Spring is in the air and family-fun activities abound at New Mexico State Parks. For the Easter holiday weekend, why not take the kids out for an awesome egg hunt? Several Parks have planned family activities for the weekend. There will be egg hunts at Elephant Butte Lake and Caballo Lake State Parks and an Open House at Sumner Lake. Pack up the family and hop over to a state park near you for the weekend!

Egg Hunts:

Elephant Butte Lake State Park – The Friends Group will host the 8th Annual Easter Egg Hunt on the beach on Saturday, April 15th from 10:00 a.m.–noon. More than 3,000 Easter eggs will be hidden along the beach for the Annual Egg-stravaganza. Children ages one through 11 will hunt for Easter eggs in four age groups, and two prizes in each category will be awarded. For more information, call 575-744-5923.

Caballo Lake State Park – Join the Fraternal Order of Eagles #4308 on Easter Sunday, April 16th for the 23rd Annual Easter egg hunt for children ages 1-12. The hunt will take place at the Riverside Campground Pavilion from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Regular park fees apply. For more information, call 575-743-3942.

Open House at Sumner Lake State Park:

Sumner Lake State Park is having its Annual Open House on Saturday, April 15, 2017 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Park Day Use Fees will be waived for people who come to the Visitor Center and sign in. Everyone is welcome!
