“Friends,

We wanted to make sure you saw the news about the study that was released on Tuesday. The Public Health Institute and the University of North Carolina released a report on Berkeley, California covering over 15 million supermarket transactions – showing no negative economic impact from Berkeley’s Soda Tax, a 9.6% decrease in sugary beverage consumption, and Berkeley has raised $2 million for the community.

This is great news for Santa Fe. We know we can both reduce consumption of soda which will improve our community’s health AND fully fund Pre-K for every child who can’t afford it.

Here’s from Kelly O’Donnell PhD of, O’Donnell Economics and Strategy, author of the study on Taxation of Sweetened Beverages in Santa Fe: “These findings are consistent with the economic forecasts I conducted on the soda tax in Santa Fe. We anticipate that the decrease in consumption in Santa Fe is offset by population increase, tourism, and inflation which will allow us fully fund Pre-K and see improvements to the health of our community.”

Here’s the full report on Berkeley you can read for yourself. The Soda Tax is a win win for Santa Fe.

Share the study and tell your friends to Vote Yes for Pre-K funded by the Soda Tax!

Please vote early today, so we can fund Pre-K for every child in Santa Fe who can’t afford it.
