NortheastCharette Lakes: Fishing was fair using PowerBait and worms for trout. We had no other reports.
Clayton Lake: Fishing was very good using PowerBait for rainbow trout. Fishing was slow to fair using spinner baits and crank baits for largemouth bass. We had no other reports. Due to low water conditions, the boat ramp remains closed.
Cimarron River: Stream flow near Cimarron on Monday was 40 cfs. Trout fishing was good using San Juan worms, gold spinners, worms and Fire Balls. The section of the river that had been closed due to a fuel spill is open again. Trout fishing at the Gravel Pit Lakes was good using Pistol Petes, PowerBait, Fire Balls and worms.
Conchas Lake: Fishing was fair to good using tubes, senkos, jigs, jerk baits, crank baits, creature baits and curly tail grubs for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. Fishing was fair to good using crank baits and minnows for white bass. Fishing was fair using jig and minnow combinations, spinner minnow combinations, curly tail grubs and crank baits for walleye. Fishing was fair using night crawlers, stink bait and cut bait for catfish. We had no other reports.
Costilla Creek: Fishing was fair to good using San Juan worms and bead-head nymphs for trout.
Cowles Ponds: Fishing was good using PowerBait, Fire Balls and Gulp eggs for trout.
Coyote Creek: Trout fishing was good using small bead-head nymphs, worms and salmon eggs.
Eagle Rock Lake: Fishing was good using PowerBait and worms for trout.
Eagle Nest Lake: Fishing for trout was good using PowerBait, spinners, salmon eggs, Pistol Petes and Platte River specials. Anglers did well from the bank and from boats. Fishing was fair to good using worms for perch. We had no other reports. The annual Pike and Carp Tournament will be held May 27 and 28. Gallinas River: Fishing was good using worms for trout.
Hopewell Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Lake Alice: Trout fishing was very good using PowerBait, worms, Pistol Petes and Kastmasters.
Lake Maloya: Trout fishing was very good using garlic, salmon peach, rainbow and corn PowerBait, Kastmasters, wooly buggers and bead-head pheasant tail nymphs. The annual Sugarite Canyon State Park Fishing Derby sponsored by the Friends of Sugarite Canyon State Park and the Raton Kiwanis Club is ongoing and runs through June 4. Los Pinos River: Fishing was fair to good using worms, Fire Balls and San Juan worms for trout.
Maxwell Lake 13: Fishing was slow to fair using PowerBait and Kastmasters for trout. We had no other reports.
Monastery Lake: Fishing was very good using wooly buggers, Pistol Petes and salmon eggs for trout. The Elmore family of Edgewood reported catching limits of trout while using wooly buggers and salmon eggs with most of the fish caught on salmon eggs.
Morphy Lake: Fishing was very good using Pistol Petes, wooly buggers, spinners, PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout. He was using salmon peach PowerBait.
Pecos River: Streamflow near Pecos on Monday was 235 cfs. Fishing was fair using worms, Fire Balls, prince nymphs and San Juan worms for trout.
Red River: Stream flow below the hatchery on Monday was 236 cfs. Fishing was fair using night crawlers, spinners and wooly buggers for trout.
Red River City Ponds: Fishing was good using PowerBait and salmon eggs for trout.
Rio Grande: Stream flow on Monday at the Taos Junction Bridge was 2,310 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Rio Hondo: Stream flow near Valdez on Monday was 151 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Rio Mora: As of Monday, stream flow near Terrero was 91 cfs. Fishing was fair to good using worms for trout.
Rio Pueblo: Stream flow near Penasco on Monday was 178 cfs. Randy Garcia reported catching a couple of nice trout this last week. He was using Fire Balls.
Santa Barbara River: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Santa Cruz Reservoir: Fishing was very good using wooly buggers, Pistol Petes, gold spoons, Fisher Chick spinners, Panther Martins and Fire Balls for trout. We had no other reports.
Shuree Ponds: Open for the season July 1.
Springer Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Storrie Lake: Fishing was good using garlic cheese, PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout up to 18 inches. Fishing was fair using liver and night crawlers for catfish. We had no other reports.
Ute Lake: Fishing for smallmouth bass was good using senkos, tubes, finesse worms and grubs in 10 to 12 feet of water. Fishing for white bass picked up. Anglers did best trolling crank baits or using curly tail grubs in the trees. Fishing was good using jigs and bottom bouncers with leeches or night crawlers for walleye. Fishing was good using stink bait and cut bait in shallow water for catfish. Fishing for crappie was slow. We had no other reports. The surface water temp was in the mid 60s.
Winsor Creek: We had no reports from anglers this week.
NorthwestAbiquiu Lake: Fishing was fair using curly tail grubs, tubes, creature baits, senkos and crank baits for smallmouth bass. Fishing for walleye was fair to good using minnows, bottom bouncer night crawler combinations, crank baits and grubs. Anglers fishing from the bank and using PowerBait caught a few rainbow trout. A few perch were caught by anglers using worms. We had no other reports.
Animas River: Water flow near Aztec on Monday morning was 2,190 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Albuquerque Area Drains: Fishing on the Albuquerque Drain was fair using liver, stink bait and worms for catfish. Our only other report was from Cole Mosely, 15, of Rio Rancho. He was fishing the Corrales Drain and caught a 6.5-pound turtle. He was using jello turkey bits.
Bluewater Lake: Fishing was good using spoons, large crank baits, large flies and stink bait for tiger muskies. Fishing for trout was slow with just a few caught by anglers using PowerBait and worms. We had no other reports.
Brazos River: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Canjilon Lakes: Closed by the U.S. Forest Service until further notice due to danger from falling trees. They are not expected to open in 2017.
Chama River: Monday morning water flows below El Vado and Abiquiu were 2,910 cfs and 1,660 cfs respectively. Fishing below El Vado was fair using weighted wooly buggers and worms for trout. We had no reports from below Abiquiu. NEW SPECIAL TROUT WATER: The river from the USGS gauging station to the confluence of the Rio Nutrias is now catch and release only using single barbless hook artificial flies and lures.
Cochiti Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using worms and homemade dough bait for catfish. We had no other reports.
El Vado Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using crank baits and jerk baits for smallmouth bass. We had no other reports.
Fenton Lake: Fishing was good using assorted colors and scents of PowerBait, Fire Balls, Kastmasters, wooly buggers, caddis imitations and Pistol Petes for trout.
Heron Lake: Fishing from the bank was good using yellow and salmon peach PowerBait for rainbow trout. Anglers trolling did well using yellow Panther Martins for rainbow trout, a few kokanee salmon and small lake trout. We had no other reports.
Jackson Lake: Fishing was fair using PowerBait, salmon eggs and spinners for trout. We had no other reports.
Jemez Waters: Stream flow on the Jemez River near Jemez Springs on Monday morning was 77 cfs. Fishing was very good using worms, stone fly nymphs, copper John Barrs, San Juan worms and Fire Balls for trout. Fishing on the East Fork was good using San Juan worms, bead-head pheasant tail nymphs, small prince nymphs and worms for brown trout. Trout fishing on the San Antonio was good using small prince nymphs, San Juan worms, copper John Barrs, worms and spinners. Fishing on the Rio Cebolla was good using worms, Fire Balls, wooly buggers and San Juan worms. Fishing on the Rio Las Vacas was good using Fire Balls, worms, Panther Martins, copper John Barrs and bead-head pheasant tail nymphs. We had no other reports.
Laguna del Campo: Fishing was very good using PowerBait, Gulp eggs, wooly buggers and Kastmasters for trout.
Lake Farmington: Nonmotorized watercraft are now allowed on Lake Farmington. Fees are $50 for the season or $5 daily. Fishing was slow to fair using PowerBait and Pistol Petes for trout. We had no other reports.
Manzano Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Navajo Lake: Fishing was good using tubes, brush hogs, senkos, jigs, swim baits, jerk baits and crank baits for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. Josh Riggins of Aztec caught and released a nice 3.7-pound smallmouth bass May 25. He was using a pumpkin seed Skinny Dipper. Fishing for crappie was fair using small tubes and grubs. Fishing was fair using swim baits and crank baits for northern pike. Fishing for kokanee salmon is slow. We had no other reports.
San Gregorio Lake: We had no reports from anglers.
San Juan River: Stream flow from Navajo Reservoir on Monday was 4790 cfs. Trout fishing from drift boats was fair to good using a variety of attractor patterns. We had no other reports.
Seven Springs Brood Pond: Fishing was very good using spinners, PowerBait, Fire Balls and worms for trout.
Tingley Beach: Trout fishing at the Central and Youth ponds was slow to fair using PowerBait, Fire Balls, and Pistol Petes. Fishing was good using worms for bluegill. Fishing was good using worms, liver, homemade dough bait and hot dogs for catfish. We had no other reports.
Trout Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.
SouthwestAlumni Pond: Fishing was good using worms, homemade dough bait and liver for catfish. We had no other reports.
Bear Canyon Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using jigs and worms for bluegill and an occasional crappie. We had no other reports.
Bill Evans Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using tubes, brush hogs and swim baits for largemouth bass. We had no other reports.
Caballo Lake: Fishing was fair to good using crank baits, jerk baits, grubs and minnows for white bass and an occasional crappie and walleye. We had no other reports.
Elephant Butte Lake: Fishing was good using crank baits, jerk baits, minnows and grubs for white bass. Fishing was fair using crank baits, tubes, minnows and grubs for walleye. Fishing was good using Roboworms, baby brush hogs, crank baits, jerk baits, swim baits, senkos, jigs and sweet beavers for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. Fishing was good using cut bait, homemade dough bait, hot dogs, dead minnows and chicken liver for catfish. We had no other reports.
Escondida Lake: Fishing was fair to good using liver, hot dogs, night crawlers and homemade dough bait for catfish. We had no other reports.
Gila River: Stream flow on Monday morning was 47 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.
Glenwood Pond: Fishing was good using PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout.
Lake Roberts: Fishing was good using Roboworms, tubes, grubs and crank baits for largemouth bass. Fishing was very good using Fire Balls, worms and PowerBait for trout. Fishing was fair to good using homemade dough bait and night crawlers for catfish. Fernie Herrera reported great fishing here for two days last week. He caught limits of trout and two largemouth bass. He was using salmon peach, garlic and cheese PowerBait for the trout and a plastic worm for the bass. We had no other reports.
Percha Dam: We had no reports from anglers this week.
Quemado Lake: Fishing was fair using spoons, jerk baits and swim baits for tiger muskie. Fishing was good using PowerBait, Pistol Petes, wooly buggers and salmon eggs for trout. We had no other reports.
Rancho Grande Ponds: Fishing was fair to good using spinners and PowerBait for trout. We had no other reports.
Rio Grande: Stream flow below Elephant Butte Monday morning was 1,710 cfs. Fishing was fair to good using night crawlers, liver, homemade dough bait and cut bait for catfish. Fishing was fair using minnows, grubs and tubes for walleye. We had no other reports.
Snow Lake: Fishing was very good using spinners, Pistol Petes, PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout. Joe, Ben and Rey Giron of El Pat, Texas and Savannah Giron and Skylar Herron of Redlands, California all caught limits of trout over this past weekend. They were using Fire Balls and PowerBait.
Young Pond: Fishing was slow to fair using worms and homemade dough bait for catfish. We had no other reports.
SoutheastAlto Lake: Fishing was fair to good using liver and night crawlers for catfish. Fishing was good using night crawlers, PowerBait and spinners for trout. We had no other reports.
