Service Academy Nomination Information Session In Albuquerque

Do you have a child or know a student interested in applying to one of the United States Service Academies?

On Tuesday, August 29, there will be a U.S. service academy information session in your area. Information sessions give prospective applicants and their families the opportunity to speak with representatives from each military service academy and in-state ROTC programs. It also allows applicants to speak to my staff and learn what is required to submit an application to my office.

Between now and October 13, my office will be accepting applications from high school students and recent graduates seeking a service academy nomination. Being nominated is a significant honor and the application process is rigorous.

Each academy prides itself on producing our nation’s next generation of military leaders. Four of the five service academies–U.S. Military Academy (West Point), U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy–require a Congressional, Vice-Presidential, or service-connected nomination. The U.S. Coast Guard Academy does not require a nomination.

WHERE: University of New Mexico, Student Union Building–Ballroom C1, Albuquerque, N.M. 87131. Free parking available in the “A” lot beginning at 5:30 pm (corner of Central & Stanford–large lot south of Johnson Gym and athletic field). Staff will be in the lot with passes for the first 50 cars.
