Del Norte Credit Union Donates $2,500 to Youth Shelters and Family Services of Santa Fe

Credit Union celebrates Grand Opening of Midtown Financial Center @ San Mateo by supporting homeless young people

SANTA FE, New Mexico—Del Norte Credit Union (DNCU), northern New Mexico’s hometown financial cooperative, is proud to announce a contribution of $2,500 to Youth Shelters and Family Services of Santa Fe to support its mission to end youth homelessness. DNCU is making the contribution to celebrate the Grand Opening of the new Midtown Financial Center @ San Mateo, 604 W. San Mateo Road in Santa Fe.

“We are honored to be able to contribute to this organization which is actively improving the lives of youth in our community,” says DNCU CEO/President Chuck Valenti. “We are continuing our mission to improve the lives of youth in northern New Mexico.” DNCU earlier this year donated $5,000 to Shelter Now!, an initiative to shelter homeless youth during the winter.

“It is heartbreaking that 100 youth sleep outside in Santa Fe every night,” says Shelly Felt, Executive Director of Youth Shelters and Family Services. “Del Norte Credit Union’s donation will help us do more to meet that need.”

Youth Shelters and Family Services delivers life-changing shelter and support to homeless, runaway, and in-crisis youth. The organization serves more than 1,200 homeless, runaway, and in-crisis youth and family members each year.

Del Norte Credit Union is supporting Youth Shelters, ¡YouthWorks! and other organizations through its Teen Day Tuesdays program, in which employees donate small amounts weekly to support DNCU’s philanthropic mission of improving the lives of youth in Northern New Mexico. DNCU staff have also collected donations in kind from members for the holidays and other occasions.
