Los Alamos – NM 502 Pavement Preservation Work

Lane Closures To Begin September 20

The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) will begin pavement preservation work on NM 502 from milepost 8.50 to milepost 18.50 from the Totavi Gas Station to Cities of Gold. The contractor will be milling the existing asphalt and then follow with a heater scarification overlay process.

Starting September 20, NM 502 westbound lanes will be reduced to one lane for three weeks. Motorists can expect delays Monday thru Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. There will be weekend work on Saturday’s only. No work on Sunday.

On October 10, NM 502 the westbound and eastbound lanes will be reduced to one lane. Motorists can expect delays Monday thru Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. There will be weekend work on Saturday’s only. No work on Sunday.

This project is scheduled to be completed October 30; weather permitting Cutler Repaving, Inc. out of Kansas is the contractor for this project.

Drivers are urged to watch for workers in the area, observe traffic control signs and reduce speed to the posted speed limit. Updates on this project will be posted on the New Mexico Department of Transportation’s road advisory website, http://nmroads.com/.
