It is with the heaviest of hearts that we write to you, on the heels of such unspeakable and avoidable carnage and loss of life in Las Vegas.

Please join us, Mayor Gonzales and Valerie Plame for our Guns to Gardens event on October 7th from 5:30-7PM at the Center for Contemporary Arts in Santa Fe for this offering of action, creativity and inspiration to celebrate life over death, love over hate, and art over guns.

Watch a firearm be forged into a gardening tool by RAWTools, hear Jimmy Santiago Baca as he he addresses gun violence in his poetry, and testimony by Jill Benjamin. See art made from guns through our Guns to Gardens program by award winning artists Don Redman, Jeremy Thomas and the Santa Fe Community College art and welding students. Warren Montoya from Rezonate Art will share about the work he has done with young people with our Murals to End Gun Violence program in our New Mexico High Schools. Eileen and the In-betweens will inspire us with lyrics.

Please note that this is a free event, open to the public, and that refreshments that have been generously donated by local restaurants and stores will be served.

New Mexicans to Prevent Gun Violence remains steadfast in our efforts to reduce firearm injury and death through public health, education, advocacy and public awareness. This is the long view and what sustains us. Please encourage students and youth to attend, and help spread the word. We hope to see you there….
