New Mexicans to Prevent Gun Violence Issues Statement on Las Vegas Shooting

New Mexicans to Prevent Gun Violence prays for a speedy recovery for the over 400 injured and for the families who lost their loved ones in the Las Vegas mass shooting.  This latest mass shooting (the largest in our history) is a sad reminder that America’s gun problem is at epic and dangerous proportions, but we have been there for years and nothing changes. Not after Columbine, Virginia Tech, Aurora, Sandy Hook, Orlando…. the list goes on and on.  Congress would actually have to have some courage and put into place common sense gun violence prevention laws.  Like New Mexico, Nevada has some of the weakest gun laws in the country. There is no limit on how many guns a person can own, large capacity ammunition magazines are legal as are machine guns and assault weapons. The only change we will see with this mass shooting is an uptick in gun sales as people will have the misguided fear that there will be a ban on assault weapons.
