DVS Invites Leaders/Representatives of Veterans & Community Service Organizations to a Briefing of Veterans’ Issues

By NM DVS

(ALBUQUERQUE, NM)—The New Mexico Department of Veterans Services (DVS) invites commanders, presidents, or representatives of veterans and community service organizations to a briefing of veterans’ issues on January 10 in Albuquerque from 9am-noon at the New Mexico Veterans Memorial, located at 1100 Louisiana Blvd. SE.

This is the first quarterly briefing of the year presented by DVS to update veterans service organizations and community service providers about veterans issues in New Mexico and nationwide.

Among the scheduled topics to be discussed are updates from the New Mexico Veterans Integration Center (VIC), the New Mexico VA Health Care System, and the National Golden Age Games—an annual “Olympics-style” competition for veterans 50-years and older that typically attracts hundreds of participants from all over the country, and which this year will be in Albuquerque.

Updates will also be provided on the State Veterans Cemeteries in Gallup and Angel Fire, the State Veterans Home in Truth or Consequences, veteran-related legislation for the 2018 New Mexico Legislature, and updates from other DVS divisions.

The briefings are also an excellent networking opportunity for veterans service organizations and community service agencies. For more information, please contact DVS Public Information Officer Ray Seva at ray.seva@state.nm.us or (505) 827-6352.
