While the Capital High softball team is off to a positive start, the same can’t be said about its baseball team.

The Jaguars dropped to 2-12 by losing Saturday’s doubleheader at Grants. The scores were 11-1 and 10-0. They open District 2-5A Saturday with a visit from Albuquerque Del Norte for a doubleheader that starts at 11 a.m.

The softball team also begins district play Saturday, and that, too, will be a doubleheader versus Del Norte starting at 11 a.m.

The Santa Fe High softball team split games at the Moriarty Invitational, turning back Espanola Valley, 13-12, and losing 21-15 to East Mountaim.

The Demonettes are at 2-12 and visit St. Michael’s Thursday for a 4 p.m. non district contest. The Lady Horsemen are at 1-2.

St. Michael’s baseball team won all three starts at the Portales/Eastern New Mexico Invitational, finishing up with 4-2 win over the host Rams. Senior James Hena singled in a run and brought in another with a sacrifice fly, and senior Sean Lathan added three hits.

Freshman Thomas Erickson pitched the first six innings and Aiden Gant came on in relief.

Now at 7-6, the Horsemen start District 2-4A play Tuesday with a visit from Las Vegas Robertson that is slated for a 3:30 p.m. start.

In tennis, St. Michael’s girls remained undefeated at 13-0 by topping the field at the Northern New Mexico Invitational played at Santa Fe High.
