Registration Now Open for the 2018 Southwest Veterans Business Conference

By NM DVS

ALBUQUERQUE, NM)—Registration is now open for the 2018 Southwest Veterans Business Conference in Albuquerque on April 24-25 from 8am-3:30pm on both days at the Hotel Albuquerque at Old Town (800 Rio Grande Blvd. NW).

The free conference is for entrepreneurial-minded military veterans, National Guard/Reserve component members, and transitioning active-duty personnel. It is presented by the New Mexico Business Outreach Center–the business development division of the New Mexico Department of Veterans Services.

A spouse or guest are also welcome. A free continental breakfast and on-site hot lunch will be provided for all registered attendees. There will also be drawings for valuable door prizes throughout the conference.

This is an excellent opportunity for veterans looking to open their own business or grow/expand an existing operation. Attendees will learn valuable tips from successful fellow veteran business owners and representatives from agencies that specifically help business-minded veterans.

Among the scheduled topics to be covered are: Access to startup and expansion capital, doing business in the southwest, business planning and marketing, assistance specifically for veteran-owned businesses, pursing state and federal government contracts/business opportunities, and many more important topics that entrepreneurial-minded veterans need to know about to succeed in their business.

The conference will also feature a panel discussion featuring local veteran entrepreneurs, and a presentation about the intensive Boots-to-Business transition-assistance program for entrepreneurial-veterans and transitioning active-duty personnel. It is also an excellent opportunity to network with successful veteran-owned business owners and federal and state prime contractors.

Collaborating with the VBOC to present the conference are: New Mexico Veterans Business Advocates, the American Indian Chamber of Commerce, SCORE, the Veterans Procurement Assistance Center, the Small Business Development Center of New Mexico (SBDC), and WESST New Mexico.

The Hotel Albuquerque at Old Town is offering a special discounted room rate for attendees. Reservations can be made by calling the hotel toll-free at (505) 843-6300.

Though the conference is free, pre-registration is required and can be done online at www.nmvboc.org. For more information about the conference, contact VBOC Director Rich Coffel at richardl.coffel@state.nm.us or (505) 383-2401.
