Capital baseball team halts its 8-game losing skein with Wednesday’s 5-4 District 2-5A victory at Espanola Valley, plays at Albuquerque Academy Saturday in doubleheader A W is a W and the hungry Jaguars will take it

Capital’s baseball team snapped an 8-game losing skein with Wednesday’s 5-4 District 2-5A win at Espanola Valley.
The Jaguars advanced to 3-14 overall and 1-2 in district, while the Sundevils dropped their fourth straight game. They had lost eight in a row before turning back Pojoaque Valley, and are now 1-12 overall and 1-2 in district.
Capital struck first, scoring once in the first inning. After Espanola tied it with a second-inning run if its own, the Jaguars’ run in the third made it 2-1, and again the home side knotted it again with a single run in the bottom of the frame.
But in the sixth, Capital came up with a pair of runs for a 5-3 advantage and maintained it despite allowing a run in the bottom of the seventh.
Both these teams are vying to keep out of last place, and at least this gave
the Jags an edge by winning one on the road.
Saturday, both teams hit the road for district games, Capital in a doubleheader at Albuquerque Academy, and Espanola playing two at Los Alamos.
