Abiquiu Lake: Edna Harper of Coyote caught a 28-inch, 6-pound walleye May 18. She was using a Roboworm.

Alumni Pond: Miriam Clark, age 17, of Las Cruces, caught an 18-inch catfish May 15. She was using hot dogs.

Chama River: Isaac Montoya of Rio Rancho caught and released a 27-inch, 5.5-pound brown trout May 17. He was fishing below El Vado Lake and using a green Mepps spinner.

Cochiti Lake: Ryan Lawless of Santa Fe caught a 25.25-inch, 7-pound, catfish May 20. This was his first catfish ever caught and he was using a minnow. Zach Stimson of Rio Rancho caught a 22.5-inch, 5.1-pound carp May 20. He was using corn.

Conchas Lake: Kevin Carlson of Pampa, Texas caught and released a 4.75-pound largemouth bass May 19. He was using a Strike King Zero worm.

Eagle Nest Lake: Gary Bowen of Eagle Nest caught a 44-inch, 29-pound, northern pike May 19. He was using a Rat L Trap.

Lake Farmington: Matt Buell of Farmington caught a 28-inch channel catfish May 19. He was using a 1-inch pink Gulp pinched crawler.

Rio Grande River: Rita Chapa of Albuquerque caught and released her very first northern pike May 15. She was fishing the river in Bernalillo and using a small trout spinner.

Storrie Lake: Joline Medina of Los Montoyas caught a 30-inch catfish May 19. She was using chicken liver. Roman Sena caught a 20-inch rainbow trout May 19. He was using orange glitter PowerBait. Kevin and Augustine Rivera, father and son, caught a 34-inch catfish May 19. They were using worms.

Ute Lake: Mango Duran of Portales caught a 6.9-pound walleye May 16. He was using a Norman Deep Little N crank bait.

Cimarron Gravel Pit Lakes: Brody Stagner, age 6, of Eagle Nest, caught an 18-inch rainbow trout May 13. He was using PowerBait.

Morphy Lake: Marquis Lucero, age 11 and Nathan Baca Jr., age 7, of Las Vegas, New Mexico, caught limits of rainbow trout May 13. They were using PowerBait and Fire Balls.

Perch Lake: Xavier Vasquez, age 3, of Albuquerque, caught his first fish, a 15-inch rainbow trout May 7. He was using Fire Balls.

San Juan River: Matt Ingram of Ruidoso caught and released a 24-inch rainbow trout May 12. He was using a tan midge. He also caught and released a 24-inch female brown trout while using a green midge. Blair Braden of Denver, Colorado, caught and released a 25-inch male brown trout. He was using a red midge.

Cabresto Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Charette Lakes: Fishing was good using PowerBait, Fire Balls and Pistol Petes for rainbow trout. Mel Begay of Las Vegas reported very good fishing this past Wednesday. His catch included a 19-inch rainbow with the rest being between 14 and 16 inches. He was using salmon peach PowerBait. We had no reports on perch.

Clayton Lake:  HOT SPOT FOR TROUT: Fishing continued to be very good with many anglers reporting catching limits and a good number of fish between 15 and 20 inches in length. They were using PowerBait and spoons. We had no reports on other species.

Cimarron River: Stream flow below Eagle Nest on Monday morning was 23.1cfs. Trout fishing was good using worms, golden stone flies, elk hair caddis, micro mays and bead-head hares ears. Fishing at the Gravel Pit lakes was good using Pistol Petes, PowerBait, salmon eggs and worms.

Conchas Lake: Fishing was very good using minnows, tubes, lizards, swim baits, worms, curly tail grubs, salt craws and senkos for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Kevin Carlson of Pampa, Texas reported a great weekend of fishing. He caught and released around 50 smallmouth and largemouth bass in two days, the clear majority of which were legal size. Fishing for walleye was fair using worm harnesses, minnows, sassy shad and curly tail grubs. Fishing for crappie was fair using minnows. Fishing was fair to good using chicken liver, homemade dough bait and night crawlers for catfish. We had no other reports. The surface water temp was in the mid 60s.

Costilla Creek: We had no reports from anglers.

Cowles Ponds: Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait, Pistol Petes and spinners for trout. We fished here over the weekend and hit it just right. Hooked and landed two fat rainbows over 17 inches in length within the first 10 minutes. We were fishing back behind the island and using a small gold Panther Martin.

Coyote Creek: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Eagle Nest Lake: Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait, spoons, spinners and worms for rainbow trout and kokanee salmon. Fishing was good using worms and small spinners for perch. Fishing was slow to fair using crank baits and streamers for northern pike. The courtesy docks are in place. The Eagle Nest Fly Shack and Lodge Annual Pike Tournament is June 2and 3. Gallinas River: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Hopewell Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Lake Alice: Trout fishing was good using Pistol Petes, gold spoons, Panther Martins and PowerBait. Fishing pressure was light.

Lake Maloya: HOT SPOT FOR TROUT: Fishing continued to be very good for anglers using PowerBait, olive and brown Pistol Petes, gold Kastmasters and brown bead-head wooly buggers for trout up to 18 inches. The Sugarite Canyon State Park Annual Fishing Derby will be held Sat. May 26-Sun. June 3. For more information, contact the park office and (575) 445-5607.

Los Pinos River: Fishing was good using copper John Barrs, prince nymphs and worms for trout.

Maxwell Lake 13: Fishing was good using worms, Fire Balls, Kastmasters and PowerBait for trout. Fishing was fair using worms, shaky shad, tubes and crank baits for largemouth bass. We had no other reports.

Monastery Lake: Fishing was fair using PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout. Tim Chavez of Belen caught a 17-inch rainbow trout. He was using PowerBait.

Morphy Lake: The boat ramp has been closed due to low water conditions. Hand launching of small craft such as kayaks and canoes is still allowed. For updates, contact the park office at (575) 387-2328. Fishing was good using PowerBait, Fire Balls and worms for trout.

Pecos River: Streamflow near Pecos on Monday morning was 18.6 cfs. Trout fishing was slow to fair for anglers using worms, PowerBait, Fire Balls, elk hair caddis and small nymphs. Finding the deeper pockets was key to good success.

Red River: Stream flow below the hatchery on Monday morning was 44.0 cfs. Trout fishing was good using copper John Barrs, Fire Balls and worms. Trout fishing at the hatchery pond was good using Fire Balls, worms and PowerBait.

Rio Grande: Stream flow on Monday morning at the Taos Junction Bridge was 312 cfs. Fishing was good using spinners, elk hair caddis, crane fly nymphs, wooly buggers, micro mays, leeches, copper John Barrs, spinners and night crawlers for brown and rainbow trout, smallmouth bass and an occasional northern pike.

Rio Hondo: Stream flow on Monday morning near Valdez was 4.25 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Rio Mora: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Rio Pueblo: Stream flow near Penasco on Monday morning was 14.4 cfs. We had no reports from anglers.

Santa Cruz Reservoir: Fishing was good using Fisher Chick spinners, Kastmasters, Super Dupers, PowerBait and Velveeta cheese for trout. We had no reports on other species.

Shuree Ponds:  Closed for the season.

Springer Lake: Fishing was fair using Rat L Traps for northern pike. We had no reports on other species.

Storrie Lake: Fishing was good using PowerBait, Fire Balls, garlic cheese and worms for rainbow trout. Fishing was slow to fair using worms for catfish. We had no other reports.

Stubblefield Lake: Fishing was fair to good using crank baits, curly tail grubs, swim baits and night crawlers for walleye and largemouth bass.

Ute Lake: HOT SPOT FOR CRAPPIE AND WALLEYE: Anglers continued to have a great time catching big crappie. They were using minnows, jigs and grubs. Fishing was very good trolling and casting crank baits for walleye. Fishing was good using tubes, small plastic worms, flukes, curly tail grubs, senkos and creature baits for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was good using small minnows, worms and small tubes for bluegill. Fishing was good using stink bait, night crawlers and hot dogs for catfish. The surface water temp was in the mid 60s.

Abiquiu Lake: Fishing was good using crank baits, tubes, senkos, curly tail grubs, soft swim baits, Roboworms and wooly buggers for smallmouth bass. Fishing was fair to good using jig and grub and jig and worm combination, crank baits, curly tail grubs, Roboworms and minnows for walleye at 8 to 30 feet. Fishing for catfish was fair to good using liver, homemade dough bait and dip bait.  We had no other reports.

Animas River: Water flow below Aztec on Monday morning was 608 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Albuquerque Area Drains: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Bluewater Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using hot dogs, large streamers and Rapalas for tiger muskie. Fishing for trout and catfish was slow.

Brazos River: Fishing was good using copper John Barrs, Fire Balls and worms for trout.

Canjilon Lakes: Closed by the U.S. Forest Service until further notice. The area may reopen later this year.

Chama River: Monday morning water flows below El Vado and Abiquiu were 774 cfs and 905 cfs respectively. Trout fishing below El Vado was fair using bead-head nymphs, spinners, salmon eggs and PowerBait for brown and rainbow trout. Fishing below Abiquiu was slow.

Cochiti Lake: Fishing was good using minnows for crappie. Fishing was fair using sassy shad, curly tail grubs, swim baits and crank baits for white bass. Fishing was fair to good using crank baits, tubes, senkos and grubs for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was slow to fair using minnows, jigs, crank baits and Rooster Tails for northern pike and walleye. Fishing was good using homemade dough bait and liver for catfish. Fishing was fair using corn for carp. We had no reports on other species.

El Vado Lake: Fishing was very good using crank baits, jerk baits, tubes, Panther Martins, swim baits and worms for smallmouth bass. Fishing was good using worms and small plastics for perch. Fishing was fair to good using spinners and night crawlers for brown trout. A carp fishing derby will be held here and at Heron Lake May 28. Fenton Lake: Fishing was fair using worms, Pistol Petes, olive wooly buggers, mop flies, elk hair caddis, parachute Adams and chartreuse spinners for brown and rainbow trout.

Heron Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using Panther Martins, PowerBait, Fire Balls and worms for rainbow trout. There was one catfish caught but no other information was available. Jackson Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Jemez Waters: Stream flow on the Jemez River near Jemez Springs on Monday morning was 12.9 cfs. Trout fishing on the Jemez, San Antonio, East Fork and Rio Las Vacas was good using worms, small bead-head hares ears, small bead-head pheasant tail nymphs, mop flies, copper John Barrs, worms and Fire Balls.  Brown trout are rising to caddis imitations in the afternoon hours. We had no other reports.

Laguna del Campo: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Lagunitas Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Lake Farmington: Fishing was fair using liver and Gulp pink pinched crawlers for catfish. We had no other reports.

Manzano Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Navajo Lake: Fishing was good using jerk baits, curly tail grubs, senkos, worms, tubes, flukes, crank baits and chatter baits for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was fair using swim baits, spinner baits, jerk baits and crank baits for northern pike. Fishing was fair using minnows and small tubes for crappie. Fishing was good using worms and curly tail grubs for perch. We had no other reports. The surface water temp was in the low 60s.

San Gregorio Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

San Juan River: Stream flow on Sunday morning was raised to 550 cfs and was flowing at 543 cfs on Monday morning. With the Animas dropping fast, there could be another increase soon. Fishing through the Quality waters was good using tan and olive midge larva and emergers, small pheasant tail nymphs, RS2s, and foam beetles.  Trout fishing through the bait waters was fair to good using Kastmasters, jerk baits, copper John Barrs, night crawlers and Fire Balls.

Seven Springs Brood Pond: Fishing was very good using PowerBait and Fire Balls for rainbow trout.

Tingley Beach: This one was about the same as last week. Trout fishing at the Youth and Central ponds was slow and a few catfish were caught by anglers using homemade dough bait and liver. We had no reports from the Catch and Release Pond.

Trout Lakes: Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait and spinners for trout.

Alumni Pond: Fishing was slow, but a few catfish were caught by anglers using hot dogs and worms.

Bear Canyon Lake: Fishing was good using night crawlers and liver for catfish. Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait, wooly worms, wooly buggers and Pistol Petes for trout. Fishing was good using a variety of nymphs and small spinners for crappie. We had no other reports.

Bill Evans Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using worms and PowerBait for trout. Night fishing was fair to good using pink worms, curly tail grubs and watermelon seed lizards for largemouth bass. We had no other reports.

Caballo Lake: Fishing was good using live shad, sassy shad, curly tail grubs, slab spoons and crank baits for white bass and crappie. Butch Perkins reported that his group had good luck fishing for white bass. They were using silver spoons, grubs and Storm Silver Shad for fish up to 15.5 inches. Fishing was fair using liver and homemade dough bait for catfish. We had no other reports.

Elephant Butte Lake: HOT SPOT FOR WHITE BASS: Fishing was very good using white and silver spoons, Storm Silver Shad, white Bombers, white and silver curly tail grubs, sassy shad and minnows for white bass. Fishing for walleye was fair using jig and minnow combinations, sassy shad, curly tail grubs and crank baits. Fishing was slow to fair using minnows, and small jigs for crappie. Fishing for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass was fair using senkos, tubes, chatter baits, jerk baits, top water lures, creature baits and crank baits. Fishing was good using cut bait, minnows, dip bait and liver for catfish.

Escondida Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week

Gila River: Stream flow on Monday morning was 21.4 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Glenwood Pond: Fishing was good using PowerBait and Fire Balls for trout.

Lake Roberts: Night fishing was fair using worms, liver, chicken guts and homemade dough bait for catfish. Fishing for trout was slow with just a few caught by anglers fishing at night and using wooly buggers and worms. We had no other reports. The 7th Annual Aldo Leopold Kids Fishing Derby will be held here June 2nd.

Percha Dam: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Quemado Lake: The water level was extremely low, and fishing was slow for all species.

Rancho Grande Ponds: Fishing was slow to fair using PowerBait and salmon eggs for trout.

Rio Grande: Stream flow below Elephant Butte Monday morning was 902 cfs. Fishing was good using liver, cut bait and night crawlers and for catfish. Fishing was fair using minnows, curly tail grubs, night crawlers and small spoons for walleye and white bass. We had no other reports.

Snow Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Young Pond: Fishing was slow for all species. The pond was closed this past weekend for a special event.

Alto Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Bataan Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Black River: Stream flow at Malaga on Monday morningwas 3.14 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Blue Hole Park Pond: Fishing was slow with just a few trout caught by anglers using salmon peach and garlic PowerBait and Fire Balls.

Bonito Lake: Closed until further notice by the city of Alamogordo due to fire damage. The lake is scheduled to reopen in August 2018.

Bosque Redondo Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using chicken liver for catfish. We had no other reports.

Bottomless Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Brantley Lake: Fishing was good using jerk baits, crank baits, spinners, spoons, sassy shad, tubes and curly tail grubs for white bass. Fishing was fair using jerk baits, crank baits, flukes and Ned rigs for largemouth. The best reports came from anglers fishing the early morning and late evening hours.

Carlsbad Municipal Lake: Fishing was fair using worms for bluegill and catfish. We had no other reports.

Chaparral Park Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

El Rito Creek: Fishing was slow to fair using PowerBait for trout. We had no other reports.

Eunice Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Green Meadow Lake: Fishing was slow for all species.

Greene Acres Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Grindstone Reservoir: Fishing was fair using PowerBait, salmon eggs, worms, Kastmasters and Super Dupers for trout. A few small smallmouth bass were caught by anglers using Kastmasters and worms. We had no other reports.

Jal Lake: Fishing was slow for all species.

Lake Van: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Oasis Park Lake: Fishing was slow for all species.

Pecos River: Stream flow below Sumner Lake on Monday morning was 85.9 cfs. Fishing below Sumner and downstream was fair using liver, night crawlers and cut bait for catfish. We had no other reports.

Perch Lake: Fishing was slow for all species.

Ruidoso River: Stream flow on Monday morning at Hollywood was 5.15 cfs. Trout fishing was slow.

Santa Rosa Lake: Fishing was good using crank baits, swim jigs, tubes, senkos, chatter baits, curly tail grubs and creature baits for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. Fishing was fair to good using minnows, sassy shad, curly tail grubs and crank baits for crappie and walleye. We had no other reports. The surface water temp was in the mid 60s.

Sumner Lake: Fishing for walleye was good using crank baits, sassy shad, minnows, jig and grub combinations and jig and night crawler combinations. Fishing for crappie was fair using minnows. Fishing was fair to good using swim baits, jerk baits, curly tail grubs, finesse worms, crank baits, chatter baits, tubes for largemouth bass, smallmouth bass and white bass. We had no other reports.
