Bluewater Lake: Tyler Pavlick of Albuquerque caught and released a 40-inch tiger muskie July 18. He also caught a 32-inch, 20-pound catfish. He was using water dogs under a bobber just 10 feet from shore.

Conchas Lake: Gary Skaggs of Bushland, Texas caught a 28-inch, 7-pound, 14-ounce walleye. He was using a crawler harness. He also caught two good size sunfish on July 16 while using the crawler harness.

Cowles Pond: Abelina Campbell, age 5, of Sandia Park, caught a 12-inch rainbow trout July 22. She was using salmon eggs.

Fenton Lake: Alfred “AJ” Casaus, Jr., age 5, of Bernalillo, caught several 11-inch trout July 21. He was using worms.

Greene Acres Lake: Jaime Sanchez of Clovis caught a 28-inch, 14-pound catfish July 20. He was using night crawlers.

Liam Knight Pond: Daylyn Wyatt, age 17, of Albuquerque, caught a 23-inch albino channel catfish July 17. He was using worms.

Lake Maloya: Scott Weese of Raton caught a 20-inch, 3-pound rainbow trout July 21. He was using a gold Colorado spinner.

Lake Van: Graydon Adams, age 10, of Roswell, caught and released another big catfish, July 21. He was using chicken liver.

Navajo Lake: Sandra Ferguson of Albuquerque caught a 28.5-inch, 9-pound, 3-ounce catfish July 22. She was using a crank bait.

San Juan River: Eric Ferguson, age 8, of Albuquerque, caught and released a 19-inch brown trout July 19. He was fishing the Quality Waters and using a firecracker midge. Teagan Gonzales, age 13, of Albuquerque, caught his first fish, a 13.5-inch rainbow trout. He was using worms.

Seven Springs Brood Pond: Harmony Garcia, age 8, Serenity Garcia, age 6, and Honesty Garcia, age 3, of Albuquerque, caught nine rainbow trout ranging between 12 and 15 inches July 17. They were using worms.

Storrie Lake: Jose I Juarez of Albuquerque caught an 18-inch largemouth bass July 14. He was using a jointed shad Rapala.

The following reports came in late but deserve a mention:

Greene Acres Lake: Christian Crider caught a 28-inch catfish July 15. He was using garlic shrimp. 

Pecos River: Charles Jimenez of Albuquerque caught a 24-inch rainbow trout July 15. He was using salmon eggs.

Red River Hatchery Pond: Brother and sister Ariel Gonzales, age 2 1/2 and Robert, age 10 1/2, of Taos caught rainbow trout July 13. Ariel’s was a 13-inch trout and they were using worms and PowerBait.

Rio Grande River: Jake Lawless, age 9 of Centennial, Colorado, caught a 17-inch rainbow trout and an 18-inch rainbow trout July 11, which was his birthday. He was fishing along Orilla Verde and was using PowerBait.

San Juan River: Matthew Ahlgrim, age 13, of Farmington, caught and released a big rainbow and a big brown trout July 7. He was using foam wing emergers and RS2s.

Cabresto Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Charette Lakes: Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait and worms for rainbow trout.

Cimarron River: The river through Cimarron Canyon and the Gravel Pit Lakes have reopened. We had no reports from anglers on the river this week but trout fishing at the lakes has been good for anglers using PowerBait, small gold spinners and Pistol Petes.

Clayton Lake:  Fishing was slow to fair using worms and liver for channel catfish. Fishing for trout was fair using worms and PowerBait. Fishing pressure was light.

Conchas Lake: Fishing was good using worms for bluegill. Fishing was good using minnows, crank baits, sassy shad and curly tail grubs for white bass. Fishing was fair using curly tail grubs, bottom bouncer rigs and crank baits for walleye. Fishing for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass was fair using top water lures, jerk baits, ned rigs, senkos, tubes and creature baits. Fishing was good using shrimp, minnows, hot dogs, cut bait and liver for catfish.

Costilla Creek: Stream flow below Costilla Dam on Monday morning was 63.8 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Cowles Ponds: Fishing was very good using PowerBait and salmon eggs for trout.

Coyote Creek: Trout fishing was slow.

Eagle Nest Lake: HOT SPOT FOR PERCH: Fishing was excellent using worms, small grubs and PowerBait for perch. The Hefley family from Whitesboro, Texas, had great fun catching a good number of perch this past week. They were using worms and PowerBait. Fishing was fair using PowerBait, worms and Platte River specials tipped with PowerBait for rainbow trout. Most of the trout caught were in deep water. A few small northern pike were caught by anglers using PowerBait and spinners.

Eagle Rock Lake: Fishing was very good using PowerBait, worms, Fire Balls and Pistol Petes for trout.

Fawn Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Gallinas River: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Hopewell Lake: Fishing was fair using PowerBait for trout.

Lake Alice: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Lake Maloya: Fishing was very good using PowerBait, Pistol Petes, Panther Martins, wooly buggers, copper John Barrs and bead-head pheasant tail nymphs for trout. The best action continues to be in the early morning and evening hours.

Los Pinos River: Fishing was very good using worms, Fire Balls, small spinners and bead-head hares ears for trout.

Maxwell Lake 13: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Monastery Lake: Fishing was very good using PowerBait, Fire Balls, worms and Pistol Petes for trout.

Morphy Lake: Work has begun on the dam and the lake will remain closed through the end of the year.

Pecos River: Stream flow near the town of Pecos on Monday morning was 17.3 cfs. Fishing was fair to good using Fire Balls, worms and PowerBait for trout.

Red River: Stream flow below the hatchery on Monday morning was 57.1 cfs. Trout fishing was fair to good using mop flies, worms, small spoons, Fire Balls and PowerBait.

Rio Grande: Stream flow on Monday morning at the Taos Junction Bridge was 169 cfs. Fishing was good using squirmy worms, mop flies, wooly buggers, Panther Martins, PowerBait and night crawlers for brown and rainbow trout. A few northern pike were caught by anglers using large streamers and spoons. We had no reports on other species.

Rio Hondo: Stream flow on Monday morning near Valdez was 5.79 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Rio Mora: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Rio Pueblo: Stream flow near Penasco on Monday morning was 10.7 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Santa Cruz Reservoir: Fishing was slow for all species.

Shuree Ponds: Fishing was good using mop flies, San Juan worms, wooly buggers and Pistol Petes for trout.

Springer Lake: Fishing was slow for all species.

Storrie Lake: Fishing was slow for all species with just a few catfish and one largemouth bass reported this past week.

Stubblefield Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Ute Lake: HOT SPOT FOR BLUEGILL: Fishing was excellent using worms for bluegill. Fishing was slow to fair using salt craws, finesse worms, curly tail grubs and senkos for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was slow to fair using crank baits, curly tail grubs and sassy shad for white bass. Fishing was good using chicken liver, punch bait and night crawlers for catfish. Fishing for walleye was slow. The surface water temp on the main lake was in the mid 80s.

Abiquiu Lake: The lake level continues to drop, and anglers should use caution when launching boats. The Corps is evaluating conditions and may close the boat ramp this week. Fishing was fair to good using crank baits, spoons and chartreuse or white curly tail grubs or night crawlers on ¼ – ounce jig heads for walleye. Fishing was good using top water lures, tubes, worms and curly tail grubs for smallmouth bass. Al and Rebecca Roussin of Rio Rancho had a good time catching smallmouth bass over the weekend. They were using 3.5-inch tubes and casting them into the bank. They also caught two nice walleye while trolling Rapalas in 20 feet of water. We had no reports on other species.

Animas River: Water flow below Aztec on Monday morning was 246 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Albuquerque Area Drains: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Bluewater Lake: Fishing was good using crank baits, jerk baits, water dogs, hot dogs, large streamers and swim baits for tiger muskie. Fishing for catfish was fair to good using water dogs, hot dogs and night crawlers. Fishing for trout was slow.

Brazos River: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Canjilon Lakes: Closed by the U.S. Forest Service until further notice. The area may reopen later this year.

Chama River: Monday morning flows below El Vado and Abiquiu were 603 cfs and 966 cfs respectively. Trout fishing above and below El Vado was fair using bead-head hares ears, black and olive leeches, salmon eggs and night crawlers for brown and rainbow trout. We had no reports from below Abiquiu.

Cochiti Lake: Fishing was fair to good using hot dogs, homemade dough bait and chicken liver for catfish. Fishing was fair using minnows, worms, top water lures, jerk baits, crank baits and spinner baits for a mixed bag of crappie, perch, white bass and northern pike. Brian Cameron of Rio Rancho caught five white bass July 23. He was using a mini spinner bait with swim bait. Fishing was fair using jigs, salt craws, senkos, swim baits and crank baits for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. We had no reports on other species.

El Vado Lake: Due to dropping water levels, the state park has closed off access to the boat ramp and use of motor boats. The lake remains open to watercraft such as canoes, kayaks and paddle boards. We had no reports from anglers.

Fenton Lake: Fishing was fair to good using worms for trout. The best action has been in the early morning and late evening hours.

Heron Lake: Fishing was good using Panther Martins and yellow PowerBait for rainbow trout and small kokanee. Boaters are finding the fish in about 18 feet of water. We had no reports on other species.

Jackson Lake: Fishing was slow for all species.

Jemez Waters: Stream flow on the Jemez near the town of Jemez on Monday morning was 5.27 cfs. Trout fishing on the Cebolla was fair to good using worms, Fire Balls and small bead-head nymphs. We had no reports on other streams.

Laguna del Campo: Fishing was slow to fair using PowerBait for trout.

Lagunitas Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Lake Farmington: Fishing was slow for all species.

Manzano Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Navajo Lake: HOT SPOT FOR NORTHERN PIKE: Fishing was very good using crank baits, jerk baits, top water lures, swim bait and spinners for northern pike. Fishing was good using ned rigs, drop shot rigs, chatter baits, senkos, baby brush hogs, tubes and jigs for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was good using worms, curly tail grubs and crank baits for perch. Fishing was slow to fair using Arnies, kokanee killers and Panther Martins tipped with corn or PowerBait for kokanee. We had no reports on other species.

San Gregorio Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

San Juan River: Stream flow below Navajo Lake was 671 cfs on Monday morning. Fishing was good using CDCs, dead chickens, small bead-head pheasant tail nymphs, root beers, hoppers, RS2s, foam wing emergers and red annelids. Through the bait waters, fishing was good using mop flies, hoppers, jerk baits, small spoons, PowerBait and night crawlers.

Seven Springs Brood Pond: Fishing was very good using salmon eggs, PowerBait and Pistol Petes for trout.

Tingley Beach: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Trout Lakes: Fishing was fair to good using worms, salmon eggs and PowerBait for trout.

Alto Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Bataan Lake: Fishing was fair using worms for bluegill and carp. We had no reports on other species.

Black River: Stream flow at Malaga on Monday morning was 1.13 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Blue Hole Park Pond: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Bonito Lake: Closed until further notice by the city of Alamogordo due to fire damage. The lake is scheduled to reopen in August 2018.

Bosque Redondo Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Bottomless Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Brantley Lake: Fishing was good using crank baits, spinner baits, senkos, ned rigs, tubes and swim baits for largemouth bass and white bass. We had no reports on other species.

Carlsbad Municipal Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Chaparral Park Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using shrimp, night crawlers and chicken liver for catfish. We had no reports on other species.

El Rito Creek: Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait, worms and Pistol Petes for trout. We had no reports on other species.

Eunice Lake: Fishing was slow for all species.

Green Meadow Lake: Fishing was fair using shrimp, hot dogs and worms for catfish. We had no reports on other species.

Greene Acres Lake: Fishing was slow to fair using worms and shrimp for catfish. We had no reports on other species.

Grindstone Reservoir: Fishing was good using PowerBait, Fire Balls, worms and Pistol Petes under a bubble for rainbow trout. Fishing was fair to good using worms for bluegill. We had no reports on other species.

Lake Van: Fishing was fair using night crawlers, chicken liver, shrimp and homemade dough bait for catfish. We had no reports on other species.

Oasis Park Lake: Fishing was slow with just a few catfish caught by anglers using homemade dough bait and worms.

Pecos River: Stream flow below Sumner Lake on Monday morning was 68.6 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Perch Lake: Fishing was slow for all species.

Ruidoso River: Stream flow on Monday morning at Hollywood was 3.37 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Santa Rosa Lake: Fishing was fair using crank baits, curly tail grubs and swim baits for walleye. Fishing was fair to good using top water lures, crank baits, senkos and creature baits for largemouth bass. We had no reports on other species.

Sumner Lake: Fishing was fair to good using crank baits, ned rigs, tubes, jerk baits and worms for largemouth bass and smallmouth bass. A few walleye were caught by anglers using bottom bouncer rigs, crank baits and curly tail grubs. Fishing was slow to fair using night crawlers for catfish. We had no reports on other species.
